Employed Population In Metropolitan Lima Reached 5 Million 32 housand Persons

From September to November of the current year, employed population in Metropolitan Lima reached 5 million 32 thousand 400 persons, a figure that compared with the same quarter of the year 2021 presented an increase of 4.6% (219 thousand 600 persons); this was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Situation of the Labor Market in Metropolitan Lima. 
 
During this quarter, the employed population with suitable job, reached 2 million 989 thousand 500 persons, increasing in 16.8% (428 thousand 900 persons), compared to the same quarter of the year 2021, compared to the 2019, is even lower in 7.5% (-242 thousand 200 persons). On the other hand, the underemployed population placed in 2 million 42 thousand 800 persons decreasing in 9.3% (-209 thousand 400 persons compared to the same quarter of the year 2021).
 
Male employed population increased 5.9% and female 3.0%
During the quarter under analysis compared with the same period of the year 2021, male employed population increased in 5.9% (153 thousand 100 persons) and the female in 3.0% (66 thousand 500 persons). It is worth to mention that the 54.9% (2 million 764 thousand) of the EAP of Metropolitan Lima are men and the 45.1% (2 million 268 thousand 400) are women.
 
In 10.8% increased the employed population aged 45 years old and over 
According to age groups, the employed population aged 45 years old and over increased in 10.8% (169 thousand 700 persons), followed by the population aged 25 to 44 years old in 5.0% (122 thousand 200 persons); while, it decreased the employed population under 25 years old 9.3% (-72 thousand 300 persons).
 
Employed population with university education increased in 33.8%
During the quarter under analysis compare with the same quarter of the year 2021, the employed population with university education increased in 33.8% (361 thousand 800 persons), followed by those that achieved to study non-university superior education in 17,0% (151 thousand persons); on the other hand, it decreased in 9.8% (-238 thousand 800 persons) among those with high-school education and in 13.3% (-54 thousand 400 persons) in those that have elementary education or lower level of education.
 
In 13.6% grew the employed population in Services area 
During the quarter September-October-November 2022, the employed population in Services sector grew in 13.6% (345 thousand 100 persons), compared with the same quarter of the year 2021; on the other hand, it decreased in Commerce 4.8% (-55 thousand 100 persons), Construction 5.2% (-19 thousand 700 persons) and in Manufacturing 8.9% (-61 thousand 400 persons).
 
Unemployment rate in Metropolitan Lima was of 7.6%
During the quarter September-October-November of the current year, the unemployment rate in Metropolitan Lima placed in 7.6%. It is estimated that 415 thousand 100 persons were looking for a job actively.
 
Wage mass increased
The INEI informed that, during the quarter under study, the wage mass coming from work in Metropolitan Lima, showed a positive variation of 19.8%, compared with the same quarter of the year 2021, compared to the same quarter of 2019, it increased 3.5%.
 
The wage mass is the accumulated total remunerations of depending or independent workers in its main and /or secondary activity, during a period of 3 months (mobile quarter) 
 
Average monthly income coming from work in Metropolitan Lima grew in 11.8%
During the quarter September-October-November 2022, the average monthly income coming from work in Metropolitan Lima was of 1 776.0 Soles, it increased in 11.8% (187.7 Soles) compared to the same quarter of the year 2021. Comparing to the same quarter of the years 2020 and 2019, it increased in 17.3% (261.7 Soles) and 0.5% (8.6 Soles), respectively.
 
According to sex, the average monthly income of men was placed in 2 019.2 Soles and that of women in 1 474,5 Soles, increasing in 11.0% (199.2 Soles) and 12.8% (167.8 Soles), respectively compared to the same quarter of 2021. 
 
In 18.3% increased the average monthly income among the employed population aged 14 to 24 years old 
The average monthly income of the employed aged 14 to 24 years old increased in 18.3% (183.7 Soles), followed by the group aged 45 years old and over in 12.4% (213.8 Soles) and among the employed aged 24 to 44 years in 9.1% (151.6 Soles).
 
Average monthly income in Construction sector increased in 16.8%
From September to November of the current year, the average monthly income of the employees in Construction sector increased in 16.8%, followed by Commerce (16.4%), Manufacturing (12.3%) and Services (9.3%).
