Mining And Hydrocarbons Sector Grew 1.66% In October Of The Current Year

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the month of October of 2022 Mining and Hydrocarbons sector reported a growth of 1.66% influenced by the positive performance of the metallic mining activity in 3.54%. This was due to the greater production volumes of tin (24.2%), copper (7.5%), gold (5.2%) and lead (3.0%); nevertheless, there were reported low levels of iron (-8.2%), zinc (-5.4%), molybdenum (-3.9%) and silver (-2.3%) production.
 
In the technical report Conjunctural Progress of the Economic Activity, it is stated that during the tenth month of the year, hydrocarbons subsector registered a contraction of 9.20%, due to the lower exploitation of petroleum (-24,6%) and liquids of natural gas (-11.6%), mitigated by the greater production of natural gas (9.1%).
 
Fishing Sector increased 1.85% in October 2022
The INEI informed that, the production of Fishing Sector increased 1.85% associated with the greater extraction of species of maritime origin (8.53%), intended for direct human consumption (8.60%), mainly for produce canning (244.0%) and for consumption in fresh state (24.9%). On the other hand, it decreased the landing for indirect human consumption (of the resource anchovy for fish meal and fish oil) registering a capture of 1 009 tons that compared with the 1 260 tons of October 2021, it evidenced a decrease of 12.83%, situation presented during the second season of Fishing in the south zone of the country, an area of lower availability of resource.
 
Meanwhile, the continental origin fishing decreased 24.90% due to lower extraction of species for consumption in fresh state (-39.2%).
 
Domestic cement consumption decreased 6.40%
During the month of October of the current year, domestic cement consumption decreased due to the lower dynamism of private Works and self-construction. 
 
Electricity production grew 6.42%
According to preliminary figures, as of November 28 of the current year, electricity subsector reported a progress of 6.42% drifted by the greater generation of thermoelectric origin energy (45.0%); Nevertheless, it decreased the generation of hydroelectric origin energy (-23.8%) and renewable energies (-7.8%).
 
According to companies, those that reported greater production were Termochilca, Kallpa, Enel Generación Perú, Egesur, Engie, Fenix Power Perú, Enel Generación Piura and Parque eólico Tres Hermanas.
 
Expense of investment of Central Government increased 43.76%
During October of the current year, the Expense of Investment of Central Government (S/4 930 million) increased in 43.76%, compared with the same month of the last year, due to the increase of investments in construction; as well as in the acquisition of machinery, equipment and other assets.
 
Meanwhile, the consumption expense of the General Government, in nominal terms, totalized S/9 240 million, it means, 0.78% lower than reported during the month of October of the year 2021.

Credit granting reported a differentiated behavior
The INEI informed that, in the tenth month of the current year, consumer loans placed in S/ 66 824 million, increasing in 25.76% compared to the same month of the last year. The same trend showed the granting of mortgage loans for housing by reaching S/ 60 170 million and grow by 8.86%. On the other hand, the credits intended to big, medium, small and micro-enterprises totalized S/ 235 008 million and registered a decrease of 0.43% compared with October of the last year.
 
On the other hand, the placement of credit cards of multiple banking was of 6 million 640 thousand units and showed a progress of 14.11%, compared to the month of October of 2021.
 
Total imports grew in 8.79%
During the month under study, the total amount imported reached US$ 4 969 million and increased 8.79%, compared to the value registered in October 2021; according to the information available as of November 23 of this year.
 
This favorable behavior was bases sin the greater import of raw materials and intermediate products that totalized US$ 2 731 million, increasing in 16.63%. In the same way, the import of capital goods and construction materials increased to US$ 1 249 million, increasing 4.72%, compared to the value registered in October 2021. Meanwhile, the import of consumption goods increased to US$ 990 million, registering a reduction of 3.87%.
