The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) announced that, in November of this year, the Consumer Price Index of Metropolitan Lima increased 0.52%, with an accumulated variation in the period January-November 7, 60% and a variation in the last twelve months (December 2021-November 2022) of 8.45%.
 
The technical report Variation in Price Indicators of the Economy explains that the monthly result is supported by the rise in prices observed, mainly, in the consumer divisions: Accommodation, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (0.83 %) due to the increase in electricity rates and natural gas for the network, mitigated by the reduction in the price of domestic gas; and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (0.77%) due to the rise in prices of fish and shellfish such as bonito and parakeet; eviscerated chicken and its cuts, turkey and pork; oils and fats like butter and margarine; bread and cereals (pastries, cakes and cookies), sugar and mineral waters and soft drinks; which was offset by the decrease in the price of vegetables such as lettuce, onion, carrot and corn, tubers such as potatoes (white, yellow and color), cheese and eggs; and fruits like mango, blueberry, strawberry, Israel apple, passion fruit and orange juice. To a lesser extent, the prices of the Recreation and Culture (0.46%), Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics (0.45%), Health (0.28%), Clothing and Footwear (0.25%) divisions increased ), Furniture, Household Items and Ordinary Home Conservation (0.24%) and Education (0.11%). On the contrary, the prices of Communications fell (-0.02%).
 
The increase in prices registered by the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages division is due to the rise in the price of fish and shellfish (5.5%) and bonito (38.2%); meat (2.1%) such as eviscerated turkey (5.1%), eviscerated chicken (3.5%), chicken giblets (3.2%), chicken cuts: wings (3.8%), breast (2.2%) and leg (1.4%); oils and fats (1.3%) such as packaged butter (4.7%) and packaged margarine (2.8%); bread and cereals (1.2%) such as sweet cookies (3.9%), bathed (3.4%), salty (2.4%); panettone (3.8%), long (3.2%) and short (1.1%) pasta noodles, sweet pastries (2.6%), packaged oats (1.5%) and bread (1.4 %); sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and sweet sugar (0.8%) such as ice cream (2.1%) and cream (1.1%), tablet chocolate (1.9%) and brown sugar (0.5%); mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit juices and vegetables (0.5%) such as, bottled fruit drinks (1.1%) and soft drinks (0.7%); and coffee, tea and cocoa (0.4%) such as ground roasted coffee (1.9%), soluble roasted barley (1.6%) and instant coffee (0.4%).
 
On the contrary, the prices of vegetables and legumes decreased, including potatoes and other tubers (-1.1%) such as lettuce (-11.4%), white potatoes (-7.0%), color (-4.1 %), Chinese onion (-6.1%), head onion (-4.7%), carrot (-3.9%) and corn (-2.5%); milk, cheese and eggs (-0.4%) such as chicken eggs (-1.9%) and fresh cow cheese (-1.7%); other food products (-0.3%) such as ground garlic (-6.4%), hydrated dressings (-2.4%), ground yellow pepper (-2.3%) and ground panca pepper (-1.3 %); and fruits (-0.1%) such as mango (-22.2%), blueberries (-9.8%), Israel apple (-5.6%), cucumber (-4.2%), passion fruit (- 3.0%), lemon (-2.0%), orange juice (-1.4%), delicious apple (-1.4%) and watermelon (-1.1%).

In Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, residential electricity prices increased (3.7%) due to the new tariff schedules of November 1 and 4, 2022; and natural gas by residential network (1.8%) due to the tariff schedule as of November 1, 2022; while the price of domestic propane gas was reduced.
 
In the Restaurants and Hotels division, the prices of food service in restaurants and similar establishments rose (0.7%) due to the increase observed in desserts (1.5%), seafood dishes (1.1%), chaufa rice ( 0.9%), restaurant menus (0.8%), pork rinds (0.8%), grilled chicken (0.6%), sandwiches (0.6%), chicken broth (0 0.5%) and ceviche (0.5%); and the service of drinks in restaurants and similar establishments (0.6%) due to the increase in the price of soft drinks (1.0%), served beer (0.7%), natural soft drinks (0.7%) , smoothie fruit juice (0.5%) and hot drinks (0.4%).
 
The increase in prices reported by the Transportation division is explained by the higher prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment (1.0%) such as gasohol (1.4%), motor oil (1.2%) , diesel oil (0.6%) and vehicular natural gas (0.6%); purchase of vehicles, due to the increase in the prices of bicycles (1.0%) and automobiles (0.3%); and local transport (0.3%) due to the increase in the price of the ticket in a collective car (1.7%), taxi (0.5%) and motorcycle taxi (0.4%). Meanwhile, the prices of vehicular liquefied petroleum gas (-5.4%), interprovincial bus fares (-2.1%) and air passenger transport (-0.5%), as well as domestic airfare ( -6.5%).
 
Among the Goods and Services that reported a price increase were: other appliances, articles and products for personal care (0.8%) such as deodorants (1.3%), toilet soap (1.1%), shampoo (1 0.0%), toilet paper (1.0%), toothpastes (0.9%), razors (0.7%), cologne for women (0.7%) and men (0.6%) and disposable diapers (0.6%); and services in hairdressing salons and personal care establishments (0.4%) such as hair dyeing (0.8%) and cosmetic hand and foot care (0.7%).
 
Products with the highest price variation
In the month of November 2022, of the 586 products that make up the family basket, 392 registered price increases, 111 decreased and 83 showed no change. The products that registered the highest price rise were: bonito (38.20%), strong avocado (18.41%), spinach (17.31%), pickled yellow chili (14.68%), bell pepper (10, 93%), table orange (6.39%), inguiri green plantain (5.72%) and olluco (5.21%). Meanwhile, the products that registered a decrease in prices were: horse mackerel (-25.19%), mango (-22.24%), lettuce (-11.41%), mussels (-10.07%), blueberries ( -9.83%), mackerel (-9.69%), white potato (-7.03%) and hake (-6.96%).
 
Products with the highest incidence
The price variation in the month of analysis was mainly influenced by the rise in prices of foods such as bonito, eviscerated chicken, strong avocado, as well as the menu in restaurants and the increase in electricity rates, which together contributed with 0.359 percentage points to the result for the month; offset by the decrease in prices of horse mackerel, white potatoes, mangoes, chicken eggs and bottled domestic gas.
 
Consumer prices excluding food and energy grew 0.23%
In the month of November 2022, the variation of the Consumer Price Index of Metropolitan Lima, without considering food and energy (core inflation) increased 0.23%.
 
National Consumer Price Index rose 0.45%
During the month of analysis, the National Consumer Price Index increased 0.45% due to the rise observed in the Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (0.86%), Restaurants and Hotels (0.66%) consumption divisions , Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (0.55%), Miscellaneous Goods and Services (0.54%), Housing, Water, Electricity and Gas (0.54%), Recreation and Culture (0.48%), Furniture, Household Items (0.33%), Clothing and Footwear (0.32%), Transportation (0.29%), Health (0.28%) and Education (0.10%). On the contrary, the Communications division decreased (-0.02%).
 
Variation of prices by cities
In November 2022, the 26 cities where the Consumer Price Index is calculated registered price increases. The cities with the greatest increase were: Ica (0.85%), Cusco (0.59%), Puno (0.54%). Ayacucho (0.53%) and Trujillo and Metropolitan Lima (0.52% each). Meanwhile, the cities that presented the lowest variation were: Huánuco and Chachapoyas (0.08% each) and Chiclayo, Huancavelica and Piura (0.04% each) Wholesale prices at the national level decreased 0.05%
In the month of analysis, the Wholesale Price Index at the National Level decreased 0.05%, influenced by the lower prices of imported products (PVC resins, fertilizers: phosphated, binary and nitrogenous, cyanide, crude soybean oil, truck tires, construction rods, transport vehicles, steel plates, lentils, hard yellow corn and wheat). Meanwhile, the prices of domestic manufactured products rose (meat: pork, chicken and turkey, vegetable margarine, cookies: stuffed and sweet, long pasta noodles, refined soybean oil, industrial wheat flour, white beer, diesel oil, detergents , industrial oil, soft drinks and cement); agricultural (tomato, lemon, olluco, green peas, avocado, sweet potato, starchy corn, potato, paddy rice, coffee beans, and hard yellow corn); livestock (cattle: sheep, pigs and cattle, eggs and live chicken); and fishing (mackerel, parakeet, cojinova, cachema and smooth).
 
Machinery and Equipment Prices in Metropolitan Lima fell 1.59%
In the month of November 2022, the Machinery and Equipment Price Index of Metropolitan Lima decreased 1.59% influenced by the lower variation in the exchange rate that affected the prices of capital goods of national origin, such as machinery and industrial equipment (electrical transformers, metal tanks and bakery ovens); machinery and equipment for transportation: bodies, motorcycle taxis, and springs for automotive vehicles; and other machinery and equipment: fishing nets and stretchers-chairs for medical treatment. In the same way, the prices of imported capital goods fell, such as machinery and equipment for transport (highway tractor for semi-trailers and motor vehicles for transporting people); machinery and equipment for agriculture (tractors and lamps);
 
Prices of construction materials in Metropolitan Lima fell by 0.36%
Finally, the INEI announced that, in November of this year, the Construction Materials Price Index of Metropolitan Lima reported a reduction of 0.36%, due to the lower prices observed in most of the component groups of this index. indicator: metal products such as LAC and LAF steel plates, construction rods, black wire and nails; flat glasses; electrical supplies (wires and cables for telephone installations, wires and cables for fixed installations, and power cables); bricks (king kong, for roof and tambourine); and binders. On the contrary, the prices of majolica and mosaics (floor and wall coverings) rose; aggregates (concrete, sand and stone); concrete structures and; plastic pipes and accessories (PVC pipes: water and drainage and water tanks).
