NEI launches “ODISEA PERÚ” web portal

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), with the technical support of the Latin America & Caribbean Demographic Centre -CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC, enables public access ODISEA PERÚ web portal, which integrates information of census data with geographic space in an interactive and quick way. The information is presented in tables, graphics and maps, at Departmental, Provincial and District level. ODISEA web portal is elaborated within the framework of the Project “Inclusive, sustainable and intelligent cities as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean”, that leads the ECLAC.
The presentation of the ODISEA – PERÚ web portal was in charge of the Chief the INEI, Mr. Dante Carhuavilca Bonett, who explained that this tool is a web application based in the REDATAM 7 platform. The event included the participation of Mr. Simone Cecchini, Director of the Latin America & Caribbean Demographic Centre - Population Division of ECLAC; Mr. Hugo González, Representative of United Nations Population Fund in Peru – UNFPA; Mr. Jorge Baca, Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration - IOM Peru and Mrs. Bettina Woll, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program – UNDP. Also, the representatives of the institutions generating data, academy, decision-makers and civil society of all the regions of the country.
ODISEA PERÚ Portal is of public use
ODISEA PERÚ portal is a free tool for public use and easy access. Offers a spatial and mapped vision that allows to place the analysis at territorial scale in detailed and communicative way, also, make possible the graphical display of data, that contributes to the description and interpretation of the phenomena studied. Its structure allows to familiarize with the application, know experiences of use or appropriation of the application and to consult of diverse type about the application and its results.
It is composed by three modules: Intern Migration, which shows the displacement of a person or group of persons through the geographic limit within the country, since an origin point to a destiny point, with the intention of getting a new residence.
Everyday mobility, referred to the displacement of a population between two places with different geographic limits in order to perform work and/or education activities; and the third module is Territorial segregation: shows the inequality level of the population in a territory, showing the disparities between the residents of different zones of a location.

It is worth to mention that ODISEA PERÚ portal is available for the community in general, authorities and persons linked to urban and metropolitan management and planification, whom can executive evaluations and researches using the information about the displacement of the country’s population.
