INEI and the Ministry of Culture start the first National Reading Survey

In order to understand the behaviorreader of the population, for the analysis and evaluation of public policies related to reading, the consumption of publications and participation in activities and spaces to promote reading, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) and the Ministry of Culture (Mincul) begin the execution of the National Reading Survey, which will end on November 30 of this year.
The field operation is in charge of the INEI staff, made up of 179 officials, including enumerators, local supervisors and departmental coordinators, who can be identified on the INEI website.www.inei.gob.pe. It is important to point out that the staff will visit 20,880 homes that have been selected in the urban and rural areas of the 24 departments. of the country and of the Constitutional Province of Callao.
The INEI staff that participates in this important statistical activity has been duly trained with the purpose of reinforcing the technical concepts and guidelines, as well as optimizing the management of the instruments and tools delivered for the effective application of the survey in the field; in addition, to be able to jointly identify routes and opportunities that allow perfecting the work carried out.
fitsIt should be noted that, parallel to the training carried out by the INEI, the Directorate of Books and Reading of the Ministry of Culture carried out specialized workshops for the culture monitors and the INEI field work teams.
Survey will reveal the type of publications consumed by Peruvians
The information obtained from the survey will make it possible to identify the type of publications consumed by Peruvians, the frequency of their attendance at libraries, book fairs and festivals, and activities carried out at home to promote reading. Likewise, it is expected to obtain information that shows the existing gaps regarding reading practices in the country.
The questions on the survey form will be related to characteristics of the home; as well as the members of the household, the reading practices of the population from 0 to 68 years of age; among other variables.
Confidentiality of information
In accordance with the provisions of article No. 97 of Supreme Decree No. 043-2001-PCM, it is established that the information collected is secret and confidential, it can only be used to prepare aggregate statistics, for no reason the data will be disclosed in a confidential manner. individualized, guaranteeing the anonymity of the informants.
