Avocado Production Increased In 13 Departments And Grew 10.1%

During the month of June 2022, avocado production totalized 168 thousand 404 tons, which represented a growth of 10.1% compared with the same month of the last year (152 thousand 945 tons), influenced by the favorable weather conditions that allowed the good growth of the crop; this was announced by the by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Departmental Economic Outlook.
During the month under analysis, 13 Departments registered increases in the production of this fruit, outstanding the following Departments: La Libertad (30.8%) and Ica (12.9%) that contributed the 58.3% of the national total. Followed by Pasco (42.5%), Tacna (29.4%), Huanuco (26.1%), Arequipa (24.0%), Cajamarca (16.8%), Apurimac (14.8%), Moquegua (14.2%), Ucayali (12.6%), Ayacucho (11.6%), Junin (9.3%) and Ancash (4.5%).
On the other hand, it decreased in Cusco (-72.8%), San Martin (-70.0%), Piura (-49.8%), Huancavelica (-17.5%), Lima (-14.4%), Lambayeque (-3.5%), Amazonas (-3.2%) and Loreto (-3.1%).
Potato production increased in 8.3%
During the sixth month of the current year, potato production reached 746 thousand 196 tons, greater volume in 8.3% compared to June of 2021, supported by the greater areas harvested and better yields obtained due to suitable climatic conditions. The Departments that reported greater production of this tuber were Ayacucho (44.3%), La Libertad (13.2%), Huancavelica (12.6%), Cajamarca (10.6%), Junin (5.4%) and Huanuco (3.0%), that together participated with the 56.3% of the total produced.
Meanwhile, the Departments that reported lower production were Tacna (-63.5%), Piura (-34.6%), Apurimac (-16.8%), Arequipa (-11.2%), Cusco (-4.3%) and Pasco (-1.3%).
In 21.9% decreased paddy rice production
In June of 2022, paddy rice production totalized 703 thousand 774 tons, registering a reduction of 21.9% compared with the same month of the last year. The Departments that impact in this negative result were La Libertad (-78.4%) and Lambayeque (-18.4%), due to the harvest forward that happened in May of 2022.
Likewise, it decreased the production in Ancash (-90.9%), Junin (-45,2%), Amazonas (-6.2%), Tumbes (-5.5%), Cajamarca (-0.7%) and San Martin (-0.01%). On the other hand, it increased in Huanuco (96.5%), Ucayali (58.9%), Madre de Dios (40.7%), Arequipa (39.1%), Pasco (25.6%), Cusco (24.5%), Piura (23.9%) and Loreto (1.8%).
Poultry production increased in 1.4%
During the month under analysis, the poultry production increased in 1,4% compared to June of 2021, mainly in the poultry centers of Arequipa (5.7%), Ica (2.4%), Lima (1.4%) and La Libertad (0.4%), determined by the greater placement of BB chickens of meat line, together they concentrated the 87.0% of the national production. It also increased the poultry production in the Departments of Amazonas (1.9%), San Martin (1.2%), Huanuco (0.3%), Tumbes (0.3%) and Huancavelica (0.1%).
Nevertheless, it reduced in Apurimac (-4.5%), Moquegua (-3.1%), Tacna (-2.8%), Pasco (-2.8%), Piura (-2.4%), Cusco (-2.0%), Lambayeque (-1.7%), Madre de Dios (-1.6%), Junin (-1.6%), Ancash (-1.4%), Ucayali (-1.3%), Puno (-1.1%), Cajamarca (-0.8%), Ayacucho (-0.8%) and Loreto (-0.4%).
In 8.0% expanded copper production
During the month of June of 2022, copper production increased in 8.0% influenced by the contribution of the mining companies such as: Marcobre, Antamina, Cerro Verde, Minera Chinalco Perú, Minera Shouxin Perú, Nexa Resources Perú and Gold Fields La Cima. Meanwhile, it decreased in Minera Las Bambas, Southern Perú Copper Corporation and Minera Antapacay.
Among the Departments with greater production were: Ica (366.2%) due to the favorable behavior of the Mina Justa project reported since July of 2021, followed by Puno (53.6%), Cajamarca (31.5%), Arequipa (17.7%), Junin (17.0%), Ancash (14.9%), Lima (8.6%) and Pasco (1.7%).
On the other hand, there was reported lower volume of extraction in the Departments of Huancavelica (-35.2%), Apurimac (-34.6%), Tacna (-17.5%), Ayacucho (-12.1%), Cusco (-6.2%) and Moquegua (-3.9%).
Electricity production increased 3.0%
Electric energy production, during the month of June of the current year increased in 3.0% boosted by the increase of the thermic origin energy generation in the power stations of Ventanilla, Chilca I and II, Fenix and Kallpa; as well as, hydraulic origin in the power stations of El Platanal, Chimay, Charcani V, Machu Picchu, Mantaro, Chaglla, Matucana, Santa Teresa, Cerro del Águila, La Virgen, Cañón del Pato and San Gabán II, among others. It also, increased non-conventional renewable energy production (Eolic and Solar).
The Departments with greater production were Ucayali (57.2%), La Libertad (42.3%), Ayacucho (39.7%), Pasco (26.5%), Amazonas (20.4%), Apurimac (17.1%), Piura (15.2%), Tacna (8.9%), Junin (8.8%), Cusco (8.4%), Moquegua (5.7%), Huanuco (5.5%), Lima (1.6%), Huancavelica (1.2%) and Loreto (0.8%). Meanwhile, it decreased in the Departments of Madre de Dios (-81.1%), San Martin (-21.6%), Ancash (-11.1%), Lambayeque (-5.8%), Cajamarca (-1.7%), Puno (-1.7%), Ica (-0.3%) and Arequipa (-0.2%).
Incomes collected by internal taxes
During the month of June of 2022, the incomes collected by internal taxes totalized 9 thousand 700 million 787 thousand Soles, a greater amount in 14.9% compared to the collected in the same month of the last year, explained by the greater payments of the third category income tax, outstanding the contribution of mining and hydrocarbons sector.
The Departments that outstands were: Arequipa (42.7%), Piura (37.1%), Lima (14.5%) and La Libertad (7.6%), that together concentrated the 93.6% of the total collected. Nevertheless, it decreased in the Departments of Huancavelica (-21.6%), Puno (-13.9%), Amazonas (-13.3%), Ayacucho (-11.9%), Lambayeque (-8.5%), Apurimac (-4.6%), Huanuco (-4.3%) and Pasco (-3.0%).
