Trading Activity In The Country Grew 2.47% In June 2022

During the month of June of the current year, trading sector grew 2.47% compared to the same month of the last year, due to the positive evolution of wholesale trade, automotive trade and retail trade, due to progressive recovery of the economic activities, but still subject to biosecurity protocols within the framework of National Health State of Emergency due to Covid-19 Pandemic, according to S.D. Nº 058-2022-PCM.
Wholesale Trade increased 2.65%
During the sixth month of the year, wholesale trade increased in 2.65%, explained by the sale of other appliances, as pharmaceutical, cosmetics and grooming products, household appliances and entertainment equipment, promoted by the celebration of Father’s Day and pre-campaign of National Holidays. Likewise, the sale of foods, beverages and tobacco increased by the greater supply to supermarkets and retail chains. The sale of other type of machinery and equipment increased by the contribution by the development of projects of industrial, mining and construction sector.
Also, registered a favorable behavior the sale of construction materials, hardware and equipment, due to continuity of public and private projects. Likewise, the non-specialized sale registered an increase before the greater distribution of personal security articles. Likewise, it grew the sale of textile products, footwear by the campaign of Father’s Day and Winter season. On the other hand, it decreased the sale of metals and metal ores and agricultural raw material and live animals.
In 0.92% increased retail trade
During the month of June, retail trade increased 0.92%, due to the higher sale of pharmaceutical and medical, cosmetic and grooming products for Father’s Day campaign, as well as the sale of clothing items, footwear and leather goods due to higher demand in stores at national level; the sale of household appliances, furniture, lighting fixtures and other articles for household was greater due to the acquisition of televisions, audio equipment, photo cameras, and video cameras. Likewise, the sale in department stores grew due to greater products in clearance.
Also, the sale of new products increased due to the greater demand of seeds, fertilizers and agricultural inputs due to crop and sowing campaign. The sale of books, newspapers and stationary items and the sale of carpets, wall and floor coverings before greater turnover of total stock. Nevertheless, it registered a decrease of sale of foods and beverages in supermarkets and minimarkets, as well as the sale of computers, peripheral units, informatic programs and telecommunication equipment.
Automotive trade increased in 5.70%
Automotive trade increased in 5.70%, due to the greater trading of light and heavy-duty vehicles, explained by the campaign financing. Also grew the maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles due to higher demand of repair and retreads services. Nevertheless, it decreased the sale of parts, pieces of accessories of automotive vehicles; and the sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycles and its parts, pieces and accessories due to the increase of prices.
