In Metropolitan Lima The Employed Population Reaches 5 Million 64 Thousand People In The Quarter May-June-July 2022

In the moving quarter May-June-July 2022, the employed population of Metropolitan Lima totaled 5 million 64 thousand 900 people and when compared to the same quarter of 2021, it increased by 8.6% (398 thousand 900 people). Likewise, compared to the same quarter of the years 2020 and 2019 (pre-pandemic), it was higher by 72.6% (2 million 129 thousand 600 people) and 3.2% (156 thousand 700 people) respectively; This was announced by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), in the technical report on the Labor Market Situation in Metropolitan Lima, prepared with the results of the Permanent Employment Survey (EPE).
 
Employed population increased in all age groups
By age group, the employed population aged 45 and over grew by 14.0% (210,500 people),followed by those between 25 and 44 years old at 6.3% (150,300 people) and young people between 14 and 24 years old at 5.0%
(37 thousand 900 people).
 
Employed population with secondary education increased by 9.7%
In the May-June-July 2022 quarter, the employed population with secondary education increased by 9.7% (227 thousand 600 people), with university education 8.2% (90 thousand 300 people), those with education did not college 7.2% (61 thousand 100 people) and those with primary education or less education in 5.2% (19 thousand 800 people).
 
Employment in the Services activity grew by 13.8%
According to branches of activity, the employed population in the Services sector increased by 13.8% (333 thousand 700 people), followed by Construction 7.5% (30 thousand 500 people), Commerce 3.5% (38 thousand 600 people ) Y
Manufacturing at 2.0% (13 thousand people).
 
Population employed in small and micro-enterprises increased by 212 thousand people
During the study quarter, the employed population of all company sizes increased, highlighting the economic units with 1 to 10 workers with 212 thousand people (6.8%); establishments with 11 to 50 workers with 79 thousand 300 people (21.8%) and, in companies with 51 and more workers with 107 thousand 600 people (9.0%).
 
Population with adequate employment reached 2 million 882 thousand 500 people in Metropolitan Lima
During the quarter of analysis, the employed population with adequate employment reached 2 million 882 thousand 500 people, increasing by 19.0% (460 thousand 800 people) in relation to the same period in 2021; however, compared to the same quarter of 2019, the employed population with adequate employment decreased by 8.6% (-270,700 people).
 
Salary mass from work in Metropolitan Lima increased by 17.4%
In the May-June-July 2022 quarter, the wage bill from work in Metropolitan Lima had a variation of 17.4%, compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Likewise, when compared to the same quarter of the years 2020 and 2019, it shows an increase of 94.7% and 1.9%, respectively.
 
The salary mass is the total accumulated remuneration of dependent and independent workers in their main and/or secondary activity.
 
Unemployment rate in Metropolitan Lima was 6.8%
In the quarter of analysis, the unemployment rate in Metropolitan Lima was 6.8%. It is estimated that 371,300 people sought employment in Metropolitan Lima.
 
Average monthly income from work increased by 5.9%
During the May-June-July 2022 quarter, the average monthly income from work in the main activity in Metropolitan Lima was 1,683.1 soles, registering an increase of 5.9% (93.1 soles), when compared with the same quarter of the previous year. Compared to a similar quarter of 2019, the average income is 1% lower (-16.5 soles).
 
By sex, the average monthly income for men was 1,914.5 soles and for women, 1,397.2Suns. When compared to the same quarter of 2021, the average income of men grew 8.2% (145.5 soles) and of women 3.2% (43.5 soles).
 
Average monthly income increased in all age groups
The average monthly income in the groupof young people from 14 to 24 years old grew by 7.1% (72.3 soles), followed by the employed population aged 45 and over by 5.9% (102.7 soles) and among the employed aged 25 to 44 , at 5.2% (86.2 soles)
 
The average monthly income in the Construction activity grew by 15.1%
The average monthly income from work increased in all branches of activity. Thus, among those employed who carry out activities in the Construction sector it grew by 15.1% (251.6 soles), followed by Commerce 13.2% (153.4 soles), Manufacturing 2.6% (39.5 soles) and Services at 2.5% (43.5 soles).
