The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported that, in the month of July of this year, the Consumer Price Index of Metropolitan Lima increased by 0.94%, with an accumulated variation of the first seven months of 5 .42% and that of the last twelve months (August 2021 – July 2022) reached 8.74%.
 
In the technical report Variation of Price Indicators of the Economy it is specified that the monthly result was influenced, mainly, by the increase in the Transportation divisions (2.49%) due to the increase in the price of bus, minibus and interprovincial tickets. , airfare, new car, gasohol and LPG; Food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.56%), due to the higher prices recorded by eviscerated chicken and its cuts, white and yellow potatoes, fish such as tuna, horse mackerel, liza, vegetables such as corn, chili pepper, garlic and bread and cereals , attenuated by the reduction in the price of chicken eggs, carrots, fruits such as strong avocado, tangerine, strawberry and blueberries, and sugar; Restaurants and Hotels (0.79%) due to the increase in food service such as menus in restaurants, chifa dishes, grilled chicken, pork rinds and chicken broth, as well as hot drinks and soft drinks; Health (0.59%) due to the rise in the price of hospital and clinic services, medical and dental consultations; Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas (0.45%) due to the increase in the service of residential natural gas and residential electricity.
 
Also, the prices of the Miscellaneous Goods and Services divisions (0.48%), Furniture, Household Items and Ordinary Home Maintenance (0.26%), Alcoholic Beverages, Tobacco and Narcotics (0.21%), Clothing and Footwear (0.18%), Recreation and Culture (0.12%), Communications (0.09%) and Education (0.01%).
 
The rise in prices in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages is explained by higher prices in fish and shellfish (7.4%) such as mullet (26.5%), hake (17.1%), mahi mahi (13.5%) , mackerel (12.9%), bonito (12.3%) and horse mackerel (11.3%); other food products (2.5%) such as ground hot pepper (25.6%), basil (10.8%), mayonnaise (5.7%) and hydrated dressings (4.2%); vegetables and legumes includes potatoes and other tubers (2.2%) such as corn (18.3%), white potato (11.9%), yellow (11.7%), color (8.4%), huayro (5.0%), chili pepper (7.9%), broccoli (4.1%), whole garlic (3.1%), beets (2.0%), onion (1.0%) and dried split peas (1.0%); and meats (1.9%) such as eviscerated chicken (3.3%), chicken cut: wings (2.6%), leg (1.9%), breast (1.8%), chicken giblets ( 2.5%), gutted turkey (2.5%), parboiled beef (1.3%), ground beef (1, 2%) and eviscerated hen (0.9%). In the Restaurants and Hotels division, the prices of food service in restaurants and similar establishments increased (0.9%) such as chifa dishes (1.6%), grilled chicken (1.3%), pork cracklings (1.3 %), chicken broth (1.2%), menu in restaurants (1.0%), desserts (1.0%), grilled meat (0.9%), marine dishes (0.8%) , ceviche (0.6%) and sandwiches (0.6%); and the service of beverages in restaurants and similar places (0.5%) such as hot drinks (0.8%), natural soft drinks (0.8%), carbonated drinks (0.7%) and beer served (0.3 %).
 
The increase in prices reported by the Accommodation, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuels division is based on the increase in the price of residential natural gas consumption (2.1%) due to the tariff schedule as of July 1 of this year. year; materials for housing conservation (1.1%) such as paint (1.1%); stick charcoal (0.9%); rented housing (0.8%) such as apartment rental in a building (1.0%); and residential electricity (0.4%) due to the new tariff schedule as of July 4 of this year. Products with higher price variation
In the month of July 2022, of the 586 products that make up the family basket, 428 registered price increases,
77 fell and the other 81 showed no variation in their prices. The products with the highest increase were: liza (26.5%), ground rocoto pepper (25.6%), national airfare (18.6%), corn (18.3%), hake (17.1%) , mango (16.5%), parakeet (13.5%) and bonito (12.3%). For their part, the products with price reductions were: cauliflower (-15.9%), celery (-10.4%), blueberries (-10.1%), carrot (-10.1%), green beans american (-8.2%), spinach (-8.1%), leek (-7.4%) and strong avocado (-5.3%).
 
Products with the highest incidence
The variation in prices during the month of analysis was mainly influenced by the increase in prices observed in bus and minibus tickets, restaurant menus, foods such as eviscerated chicken and white potatoes, and new cars, which together contributed 0.336 percentage points. to the result of the month of July; attenuated due to the decrease in prices of food products such as chicken eggs, carrots, strong avocados, brown sugar and tangerines.
 
Consumer prices without food and energy increased 0.74%

National Consumer Price Index increased 1.00%
During the month of analysis, the National Consumer Price Index increased 1.00%, due to price increases in all consumer divisions: Transportation (2.19%), Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (1, 77%), Restaurants and Hotels (0.83%), Miscellaneous Goods and Services (0.60%), Health (0.56%), Accommodation, Water, Electricity and Gas (0.44%), Furniture, Articles for the Home (0.42%), Clothing and Footwear (0.32%), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (0.26%), Recreation and Culture (0.23%), Communications (0.07%) and Education (0.05%).
 
Variation of prices by cities
In the month of July 2022, the twenty-six cities where the Consumer Price Index is calculated registered price increases. The highest variations were observed in the cities of Abancay (1.66%), Tumbes (1.55%), Ica (1.46%), Tacna (1.45%) and Moquegua (1.42%); meanwhile, the cities with the lowest variation were Trujillo (0.72%), Chimbote (0.73%) and Tarapoto (0.77%).
 
Wholesale prices nationwide grew 1.96%

In July 2022, the Price Index for Machinery and Equipment of Metropolitan Lima grew 3.62%, influenced mainly by the rise in prices of capital goods of imported origin (exchange rate behavior), focusing on machinery and equipment for transport: road tractor for semi-trailers, vehicles for transport of merchandise and pick up truck; machinery and equipment for agriculture: tractors, mowers and picks; machinery and equipment for industry: excavators, loaders. Likewise, the prices of capital goods of national origin, machinery and equipment for industry rose: machinery for bakeries, refrigeration equipment, transformers and electrical panels; machinery and equipment for transportation: bodies, mototaxi and springs for automotive vehicles; machinery and equipment for agriculture: nests for birds, beaks and lampas.
 
Construction material prices increased by 0.71%
Finally, the INEI announced that, in July of this year, the Price Index for Construction Materials in Metropolitan Lima increased 0.71%, due to the rise in the glass group (tempered and primary glass); and metallic (hot-rolled steel tubes, steel plates: LAC and LAF, corrugated galvanized plates and construction rods).
