Restaurant Activity Increased 41.88% In May Of This Year

The restaurant activity registered a variation of 41.88% when compared to the same month of the previous year, driven by the progress shown in its four components; So reported the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) when announcing the results of the Monthly Survey of the Services Sector.
Likewise, it reported that in the period January-May of this year, this activity added a growth of 46.57% compared to the same period in 2021.
In 41.17% the group of restaurants increased
The INEI reported that the group of restaurants grew by 41.17% due to the increase in demand in the businesses of poultry, restaurants, fast foods, chifas, coffee restaurants, tourist restaurants, sandwich shops and meat and grills, items that were boosted for advertising campaigns on the internet and social networks, offers and discounts, presentation of menus with a variety of fusion and Creole dishes, personal and family combos.
Similarly, ceviche shops, international food, Italian food, Creole food, Japanese food, ice cream parlors, pizzerias and sweet shops were favored, in response to the increase in consumption for delivery service and attention to events on the occasion of the Day of the Mother.
Other food service activities grew by 34.78%
In May 2022, other food service activities increased by 34.78% due to the dynamism of the activity of food concessionaires, due to higher service orders due to the increase in personnel of contracting companies, renewal and acquisition of contracts with public entities and private, manufacturing, fishing, cement companies and health centers. Likewise, special services were increased in buffet lunches, balanced menus and attention in corporate cafeterias before the return of face-to-face work.
Likewise, the supply of meals for contractors (food services to air and land transport companies) grew due to the greater frequency of trips motivated by the gradual increase in national and international tourism.
In 63.34% the beverage service increased
The beverage service grew by 63.34%, driven by the activities of bars, cafeterias, restaurant bars, juice bars, and nightclubs, due to discounts on breakfasts, juices, cocktails, infusions, and snacks, to which were added strategic alliances with the financial sector, remodeling of spaces with various themes and the presentation of shows with live bands.
Provision of meals on request showed a variation of 239.81%
In the fifth month of this year, the supply of meals on request (catering) increased by 239.81%, promoted by the greater requirement of food preparation and distribution services for events
public and private, for new contracts in buffet lunch service on the occasion of "Mother's Day", executive breakfasts, conferences, conventions and corporate refreshments.
