Employed Population Of Metropolitan Lima Increased 11.2% During Th Second Quarter Of 2022

During the second quarter of the current year, employed population of Metropolitan Lima reached 5 million 87 thousand 700 persons, which compared with the same period of the year 2021, increased in 11.2% (512 thousand 800 persons). Likewise, compared with the same mobile quarter of the years 2020 and 2019, the employed population of the Capital city increased in 131.5% (2 million 889 thousand 800 persons) and in 3.9% (190 thousand 700 persons), respectively; this was announced by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Situation of Labor Market in Metropolitan Lima prepared with the results of the Permanent Survey of Employment (EPE).
Population with suitable job reached 2 million 845 thousand 500 persons
During the quarter under study, employed population with suitable job in Metropolitan Lima reached 2 million 845 thousand 500 persons, registering a growth of 23.8% (546 thousand 400 persons) compared with the same quarter of the year 2021, compared to the same period of the year 2019 suitable job was lower in 9.7% (-305 thousand 301 persons). While the underemployed population was placed in 2 million 242 thousand 100 persons and decreased in 1.5% (-33 thousand 700 persons), compared to the same quarter of the year 2021.
Female employed population increased in 285 thousand 200 persons
During the quarter April-May-June of this year, more women than men entered the labor market; therefore, female employed population increased in 14.0% (285 thousand 200 persons) and male did it in 9.0% (227 thousand 600 persons).
Employed population increased in all age groups
According to age groups, it outstanding the increase of the employed population aged 45 and over in 16.8% (248 thousand 500 persons), followed by the population under 25 years old in 9.4% (69 thousand 200 persons) and employed population aged 25 to 44 years old by growing in 8.3% (195 thousand 100 persons).
Employed population with high-school education level increased in 12.4%
During the quarter under study, employed population with high-school education level increased in 12.4% which is equivalent to 283 thousand 200 persons, followed by those that have university education in 10.6% (117 thousand 400 persons), with non-university superior education in 10.5% (84 thousand persons) and with elementary education that includes early-childhood education and no level of education in 7.3% (28 thousand persons).
In 373 thousand 800 persons increased the employed population in Services sector
The INEI announced that during the second quarter of the current year, the employed population in Services Sector grew in 15.6% (373 thousand 800 persons), followed by those that work in Manufacturing with 10.9% (66 thousand 600 persons), in Commerce with 5.8% (63 thousand persons) and in Construction with 2.7% (11 thousand 200 persons).
Wage mass coming from work in Metropolitan Lima increased in 19.8%
The wage mass coming from work in Metropolitan Lima during the second quarter showed a positive variation of 19.8% compared with the same quarter of the year 2021. Likewise, compare with the second quarter of year 2020 and 2019, it shows an increase of 152.6% and 1.9%, respectively. The wage mass is the accumulated total remunerations of depending or independent workers in its main and /or secondary activity, during a three-month period of time.
Unemployment affected the 6.8% of Economically Active Population
Unemployment rate was of 6.8%. It is estimated that 370 thousand persons search employment in Metropolitan Lima during the quarter under study.
Monthly average income coming from work in Metropolitan Lima increased in 6.3%
From April to June 2022, the monthly average income coming from work in Metropolitan Lima placed in 1667.2 Soles compared with the same quarter of the year 2021, it grew in 6.3% (98.7 Soles) and regarding the same quarter of the year 2020, in 8.1% (124.5 Soles). Meanwhile that compared with the same mobile quarter of the year 2019, it decreased in 2.0% (-34.6 Soles).
According to gender, the monthly average income coming from work of male population was of 1917.8 Soles, with an increase of 9.2% (162.1 Soles) compared with the same quarter of the year 2021. In the case of female population was of 1358.5 Soles and showed a growth of 2.4% (32.0 Soles).
In 9.2% increased the monthly average income of employed population of 45 and more years old.
During the quarter under analysis compared to the same mobile quarter of the year 2021, monthly average income increased in 9.2% (154.9 Soles) among employed population aged 45 and over followed by the income of those aged 25 to 44 years old that grew in 4.0% (65.3 Soles) and the income of the population under 25 years old in 6.9% (69.6 Soles).
Monthly average income of workers of Construction sector increased in 13.8%
The INEI informed that the monthly average income of workers of all activity branches positively shifted. Therefore, in Construction grew in 13.8%, followed by Trading (12,8%), Manufacturing (5,6%) and in Services (2.8%).
