Employed Population Reach 17 Million 481 Thousand Persons During The First Quarter Of The Year 2022

During the first quarter 2022, employed population of the country reached 17 million 481 thousand 300 persons, increasing in 7.3% (1 million 185 thousand 100) compared with the same quarter of the year 2021 and in 5.6%
(932 thousand 800) compared with the same quarter of the year 2020. Likewise, it overcomes in 3.8% (636 thousand 300) to the level observed during the first quarter of the year 2019;  this was informed the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Behavior of Labor Market Indicators Nationwide,  prepared with the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO).
 
According to place of residence, employed population of urban area of the country increased in 10.4% (1 million 279 thousand 100) compared with the same quarter of the year 2021 and regarding the same quarter of the years 2020 and 2019 was higher in 6.9% (876 thousand 100) and in 4.7% (612 thousand 100), accordingly. On the other hand, in rural area, during the quarter under analysis compared with the same quarter of the year 2021, it decreased in 2.3% (-94 thousand 100); nevertheless, compared with the same quarter of the years 2020 and 2019, it increased in 1.5% and 0.6%, accordingly.
 
In 12.8% increased employed population of the Coast
According to natural region, employed population of the Coast increased in 12.8% (1 million 74 thousand 300), mainly in the Center Coast that grew in 17.5% (1 million 2 thousand 300), followed by the South Coast with 6.5% (27 thousand 500) and the North Coast with 2.0% (44 thousand 500).
 
Also employed population increased in the Highlands in 1.7% (98 thousand 100), due to the dynamism observed in the Central Highlands with 5.9% (114 thousand 600), followed by the Southern Highlands in 1.7% (46 thousand 600); meanwhile in the Northern Highlands decreased in 6.7% (-63 thousand 100). In the Jungle, employed population grew in 0.6% (12 thousand 600).
 
Female employed population grew in 8.9% and male in 6.0%
During the quarter under analysis, female employed population increased in 8.9% (630 thousand 500) and male in 6.0% (554 thousand 600), compared with the same quarter of the year 2021. When comparing with the same quarter of the year 2020 male employed population increased in 6.1% (558 thousand) and female in 5.1% (374 thousand 800). Regarding the same quarter of the year 2019, female employed population increased in 3.9% (288 thousand 300) and male in 3.7% (348 thousand).
In 10.2% increased employed population aged 45 and over
By age groups, employed population aged 45 and over increased in 10.2% (580 thousand 900), followed by those that belong to the group aged 14 to 24 years old in 6.1% (175 thousand 300) and among those aged 25 to 44 years old in 5.6% (428 thousand 900). As compared with the same quarter of the year 2020, those aged 45 and over increased in 6.8% (400 thousand 900), followed by the population under 25 years old with 6.0% (171 thousand 200) and those aged 25 to 44 years old in 4.6% (360 thousand 700).
Meanwhile, compared with the same quarter of the year 2019, the population aged 45 and over increased in 5.8% (346 thousand 400); the group aged 25 to 44 years old in 3.7% (287 thousand 800), meanwhile the population under 25 years old did not showed significant variation.

 

 

Population with superior education increased in 13.3%
During the first quarter 2022, employed population of all education levels increased registering a higher increase among those that have university education in 13.3% (397 thousand 900), followed by the population with  non-university education in 13.2% (338 thousand 100). In addition, those that have high-school education grew in 5.7% (397 thousand 700) and those that have elementary or a lower education level in 1.4% (52 thousand 200).
 
In 16.8% increased employed population in economic units of 51 to more employees
During the quarter January-February-March 2022 compared with the same quarter of the year 2021, employed population in business of 51 to more employees increased in 16.8% (476 thousand), in 21.0% (214 thousand 700) in business of 11 to 50 employees and in 3.9% (482 thousand 400) in small economic units of 1 to 10 employees.  73.8% of employees of the country work in small business of 1 to 10 employees 7.1% in business of 11 to 50 employees and the 19.0% in business of 51 and more employees.
 
In 38.2% grew employed population in Mining sector
From January to March of the year 2022 compared with the same quarter of the year 2021, employed population increased in the Mining sector in 38.2%, followed by Services in 13.5%, Manufacturing 12.5%, Trading 11.6% and Construction 9.0%; meanwhile that it decreased in Fishing 29.2% and Agriculture 5.9%. Compared to the same mobile quarter of the years 2020 and 2019, employed population decreased in Fishing sector in 13.3% (-10 thousand) and in 6.4% (-4 thousand 500), accordingly.
 
Unemployment rate was of 6.0%
During the quarter under study, unemployment affected 6.0% of Economically Active Population of the country, compared to the same quarter of the year 2021 it decreased in 2.2 percentage points. During this mobile quarter, 1 million 106 thousand 200 persons looked for a job in the country.
 
Wage mass of the country coming from work had a positive variation of 21.7%
The INEI informed that during the first quarter of the current year, the wage mass of the country coming from work had a positive variation of 21.7%, compared with the same period of the year 2021. As compared with the same quarter of the years 2020 and 2019, it grew in 1.4% and 3.2% accordingly.
 
Monthly average income coming from work in urban area increased in 13.2%
During the mobile year April 2021 - March 2022, the monthly average income coming from work from the urban area of the country placed in 1505.0 Soles, increasing in 13.2% (175.2 Soles) compared with the same last mobile year. According to gender, men average income increased in 17.9% (260.5 Soles) and women income increased in 7.2% (82.6 Soles).
