In the moving quarter March-April-May 2022, the employed population of Metropolitan Lima reached 5 million 113 thousand people, increasing by 16.0% (703 thousand 900 people), when compared to a similar quarter in 2021. Compared to a similar quarter in 2020 (year with confinement), it increased by 100.6% (2 million 563 thousand 800 people) and compared to the same quarter of 2019 (pre-pandemic year) it increased by 5.0% (245 thousand 500 people). This was announced by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) through the technical report on the Labor Market Situation in Metropolitan Lima, prepared with the results of the Permanent Employment Survey (EPE).
 
According to employment levels, he explained that in the quarter under study, the employed population with adequate employment in Metropolitan Lima reached 2,829,400 people, a figure that compared to a similar quarter in 2021 grew by 28.9% (633,500 people); However, compared to the same quarter of 2019, it has not yet recovered the level obtained, being lower by 9.3% (-290 thousand 900 people). For its part, the underemployed population rose to 2 million 283 thousand 600 people, increasing by 3.2% (70 thousand 400 people) compared to 2021 and, compared to the same quarter of the years 2020 and 2019, increased by 105.1% (1 million 170 thousand 100 people) and 30.7% (536 thousand 400 people), respectively.
 
Female employed population increased more than the male
The INEI reported that, in the quarter of analysis compared to the same quarter of 2021, the female employed population increased by 19.3% (374,800), while the male population increased by 13.4% (329,100). . Of the total employed population of Metropolitan Lima, 54.7% (2,795,100) are men and 45.3% (2,317,900) are women.

Employed population increased in all branches of activity; In the analyzed quarter, the Manufacturing sector grew by 22.6% (129 thousand 700 people), followed by Services by 16.5% (386 thousand 500 people), in Commerce by 16.2% (166 thousand 500 people ) and in Construction at 6.8% (27 thousand 100 people). When comparing it with a similar moving quarter of 2020, the increase in employment in all branches of activity. Compared to the same quarter of 2019, it increased in most branches of activity, with the exception of Services, which decreased by 4.3% (-121 thousand 800 people).
 
Wage bill increased by 25.3%

Average monthly income from work increased by 7.0%
In the March-April-May 2022 quarter, the average monthly income from work in Metropolitan Lima was 1,667.6 soles, an amount that compared to the same quarter in 2021 showed a growth of 7.0% (109.2 Suns). Likewise, compared to the same quarter of 2020, it increased by 5.3% (83.2 soles); however, it decreased by 3.3% (-56.1 soles), compared to the same quarter of 2019.
 
By sex, the average monthly income of the male population increased by 10.8% and that of the female population by 1.8%.
 
Average monthly income of the population aged 45 and over increased by 10.0%
In the moving quarter of analysis, compared to the same period in 2021, the average monthly income of all age groups increased. The greatest increase occurred in the income of the adult population aged 45 and over, which grew by 10.0% (164 soles); followed by the income of the population between 25 and 44 years of age, at 6.0% (99.4 soles); and the income of the population under 25 years of age, at 4.9% (49.5 soles).

In the moving quarter March-April-May 2022, the average monthly income of workers in the Commerce sector increased by 15.0%, followed by Construction by 12.1%, Services by 5.2% and in the Manufacturing activity by 3.4%.
