Five departments contributed 91.8% of the national production of paddy rice in November of 2025

By comparing November of 2025 and the same month of 2024, the production of paddy Price increased in the departments of Cajamarca (123.1%), Amazonas (59.6%), Piura (44.4%), San Martín (6.3%) and Loreto (2.8%), regions that together contributed with the 91.8% of the national total, informed the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the Technical Report: “Peru: Economic Outlook by Department”.


This positive behavior has been supported by the good water conditions that benefited the vegetative development of this crop oriented to the domestic market. The same results were registered in Madre de Dios (84.6%), Junín (72.2%), Huánuco (18.6%) and La Libertad (16.9%); quite the opposite to the registered in Ucayali (-15.2%).


The production of paddy rice registered 203 709 tons at national level and registered a growth of 10.4% compared to November of 2024.


Departments of Arequipa, Ica and Piura concentrated the 83.8% of the total production of grapes
Regarding to the total national grape production, outstood the volumes reported in the agricultural zones placed in Arequipa (542.0%), Ica (18.0%) and Piura (12.0%), during the penultimate month of 2025, which together contributed with the 83.8% of the national total.


Likewise, it was registered an increase in Lima (233.3%), Cajamarca (6.0%) and San Martín (2.6%). Nevertheless, it decreased in La Libertad (-9.6%), Lambayeque (-8.8%), Ancash (-3.3%) and Tumbes (-1.2%).


Across the country, grape production totalized 189,485 tons and showed an expansion of 15.2% compared to the same month of 2024, due to the appropriate thermal factors that allowed the maturation process of this fruit destined to the foreign market and the agro-industry.


84.1% of the poultry production was driven by the poultry centers of three departments
During the eleventh month of 2025, poultry production outstood in poultry centers placed in the departments of La Libertad (3.5%), Lima (3.5%) and Arequipa (1.5%), that participated with the 84.1% of the total production.


In addition, grew in Moquegua (123.8%), Loreto (4.2%), Lambayeque (2.5%), San Martín (2.0%), Ucayali (1.0%), Madre de Dios (0.7%), Piura (0.4%) and Tacna (0.3%). Meanwhile, it reduced in Apurímac (- 4.6%), Huancavelica (-4.3%), Amazonas (-4.1%), Pasco (-3.3%), Puno (-2.8%), Ayacucho (-2.7%), Junín (-1.6%), Ica (-1.5%), Huánuco (-1.4%), Tumbes (-1.4%), Cusco (-1.0%), Cajamarca (-0.6%) and Ancash (-0.1%).


During the month under analysis, poultry production evidenced an increase of 2.9% compared to November of 2024, determined by the increase of the placement of BB chicken of the meat line.


Copper production registered an unfavourable result in nine departments
During November of 2025 and compared to the same month of the last year, copper production was mainly affected by the lower extraction in the departments of Cusco (-27.8%), Apurímac (-17.6%), Arequipa (-16.2%), Ancash (-12.9%) and Moquegua (-12.3%), in spite that they concentrated the 69.7% of the total copper production. On the other hand, a decrease in the production was registered in Ica (- 22.7%), Cajamarca (-16.6%), Lima (-5.7%) and Pasco (-4.9%); meanwhile that it registered an increase in Ayacucho (193.7%), Tacna (26.3%), Huánuco (4.9%), Junín (4.3%) and Huancavelica (1.8%).


In this way, the Technical Report: “Peru: Economic Outlook by Department” reveals that the copper production, during the month under study, registered a decrease of 12.1% compared to the same month of 2024, as a consequence of the lower extraction obtained in the following mining companies: Las Bambas, Anglo American Quellaveco, Cerro Verde, Antamina, Antapaccay, Hudbay and Marcobre. In addition, tin (-19.1%) and molybdenum (-7.3%) production decreased. On the other hand, zinc (13.7%), lead (10.8%), iron (5.6%) and silver (0.03%) production increased.


Six departments contributed with the 39.7% of the electric production of the country
By comparing the production of electric energy registered in November of 2025 with the same month of 2024, the departments that registered the greater dynamism were Puno (140.6%), Arequipa (137.0%), Ica (14.8%), Junín (10.0%), Cusco (2.6%) and Huancavelica (2.5%), by concentrating the 39,7% of the total generated.


On the other hand, it decreased in Ucayali (-88.5%), San Martín (-29.3%), Huánuco (-19.3%), Ancash (-17.3%), Loreto (-5.3%) and Tumbes (-2.0%), as well as in Lima (-13.8%), that is the first producer at national level and contributed with the 42.5% of the national production.


In the country, the production of electric energy slightly increased by 0.9%, influenced by the high generation in the following hydroelectric power stations: Carhuaquero, Gallito Ciego, Chimay, Ángel I, II and III, Aricota I, Restitución, Yaupi, Poechos II, Machupicchu, Charcani V and La Joya, among others. Likewise, the generation of non-conventional renewable energy (solar and wind) was favoured. On the other hand, the generation of thermoelectric energy coming from the power stations of Aguaytía, Las Flores, Chilca I and II, Fénix and Santa Rosa reduced.


Revenues collected by internal taxes increased in Cusco, Lima, Piura and Arequipa
During November of 2025, revenues collected by internal taxes reached 14,448 million, increasing by 27.5% compared to the collected in November of 2024. This result was explained due to the greater payments of the income tax (except for the second category), value added tax and selective excise tax, among other incomes.


It is worth to mention that 20 departments showed positive variations, among those that outstood are: Cusco (101.1%), Lima (29.9%), Piura (24.9%) and Arequipa (12.8%), that together contributed with the 92.5% of the total tax collection. Meanwhile, the following departments registered negative behavior: Tacna (-47.4%), Lambayeque (-39.6%), Huancavelica (-9.9%) and Moquegua (-6.1%).
