Commercial sector grew 4.17% in November of 2025

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that the Commercial developed positively by 4.17%, during November of 2025, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the increase of the wholesale trade, retail trade and automotive trade.
Likewise, it informed that during the period January-November of 2025, this sector registered an increase of 3.46%, compared to the same period of the year 2024.
Wholesale trade increased by 3.52%
During November of 2025, the wholesale trade grew by 3.52% favoured by the greater sale of solid, liquid, gas fuels and allied products, due to the dynamism of productive sectors and the optimization of the supply chain in gas stations of retail service. Likewise, the sale of heavy-duty machinery mainly outstood for the mining and construction sectors.
The sale of household goods showed a significative increase associated to the greater demand of pharmaceutical and medicinal products, electronics and household appliances, perfumery articles, cosmetics and products for skincare. At the same time, the sale of metals and metal ores increased, due to the positioning of gold as safe-haven assets; as well as the sale of construction materials and hardware covers, due to mining investment and real estate activity.
The same trend registered the sale of baskets of mass consumption goods before the large majority of purchase orders by Christmas campaign, as well as a greater commercialization of natural, veterinary and electronic security products. The greater sale of agriculture raw materials and of live animals was associated to the demand of: coffee, cacao, seeds and oleaginous fruits, favoured by events such as “Expocafé Perú 2025”. On the other hand, the sale of chemical inputs reduced for the industry sector and bulk paper.
Retail trade increased by 3.96%
Retail commerce registered a growth of 3.96% during November of 2025, compared to the same month of 2024, driven by the sale of fuels and lubricants for automotive vehicles in supply points and self-services. Likewise, the sale in supermarkets and mini-markets increased due to the greater demand of foods, beverages and cleaning products before commercial events such as “Black Friday” and “Cyber Wow 2025”.
At the same time, the sale of pharmaceutical, medicinal and cosmetics products and articles of personal care grew due to the greater diversification of products, advertising campaigns and new points of sale, as well as the sale in department stores driven by promotions and events such as the “World Shopping Day”.
Simultaneously, it grew the sale of optical articles, costume jewellery, bicycles and veterinary products, driven by marketing strategies through digital channels; as well as the sale of clothing items, footwear and leather articles promoted by advertising events of end of season and launching of new stores.
In the same way, it positively changes the sale of household appliances, furniture and lighting equipment by new products portfolio, Christmas campaign and greater demand of smart appliances. In addition, the sale of computers and peripheral equipment increased due to the innovation of equipment of high performance for videogames, with design and artificial intelligence. Nevertheless, the sale of carpets, floor and wall covering decreased, as well as audio and video equipment.
Automotive trade registered expansion of 9.98%
During the eleventh month of 2025, the automotive trade increased 9.98% compared to the same month of 2024, this performance was driven by the greater demand of light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles and minor vehicles, in response to key commercial strategies, such as fairs: “Auto Fest SJM” and “La Ciudad de las Motos 2025”; to all this was added a competitive exchange rate and better credit terms and greater liquidity associated to the withdrawal of funds of AFP and CTS.
In addition, the sale of parts, pieces and accessories of automotive vehicles grew due to the demand of vehicular parts and diversification of products; as well as the maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles, before the contract renewal.
