Employed population registered a growth of 4.2% during the quarter September-October-November of 2025

During the quarter September-October-November of 2025, the employed population of Lima Metropolitan area totalized 5 million 796 thousand 600 persons and presented an expansion of 4.2% (232 thousand 400), compared to the same quarter of the last year. This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report of the Situation of Labour Market in Lima Metropolitan area, prepared with the results of the Permanent Survey of National Employment (EPEN).
In addition, it was informed that by comparing to the quarter analyzed with the same quarter of the last year, the male employed population increased by 3.8% (115 thousand 600) and the female employed population increased by 4.6% (116 thousand 800).
Growth of the employed population of 45 years old and older was of 10.0%
According to the age group, the employed population increased between those that are 45 years old and older by 10.0% (217 thousand 600), followed by the age group of 25 to 44 years old increased by 2.7% (73 thousand 500); meanwhile, it decreased by 8.7% (-58 thousand 700) in the young population of 14 to 24 years old.
Employed population with university superior education increased by 12.8%
During the quarter under analysis and compared to the same quarter of the last year, increased the employed population with university superior education by 12.8% (204 thousand 200), followed by those reached non-university superior education level by 4.0% (46 thousand 600) and by 0.7% (17 thousand 200) in those with secondary education level; nevertheless, it decreased between those that have primary or lower education level decreased by 10.1% (-35 thousand 700).
Employment grew 4.8% between the population that works in the activity of Services
Among the months of September and November of the current year, the employed population increased in Services by 4.8% (147 thousand), Commerce by 3.6% (44 thousand 900), Manufacturing by 1.8% (14 thousand 100) and Construction by 1.1% (4 thousand 700).
Employment in companies of 11 to 50 employees increased by 23.1%
The employed population increased in economic units of 11 to 50 employees by 23.1% (146 thousand) compared to the same period of 2024 and in the establishments of 51 and more employees by 10.3% (154 thousand 100); nevertheless, it reduced in the companies of 1 to 10 employees by 2.0% (-67 thousand 800).
Unemployment rate was of 5.9%
In Lima Metropolitan area, the unemployment rate placed in 5.9%, figure that meant that 365 thousand 100 persons sought an employment actively and that, compared to the same mobile quarter of the last year (5.7%), increased in 0.2 percentage point.
Population with suitable employment grew by 10.8%
During the quarter of September- October-November of 2025, the population with suitable employment increased by 10.8% (368 thousand 800) compared to the same quarter of 2024, reaching 3 million 797 thousand 400 persons, in Lima Metropolitan area. On the other hand, the underemployed population decreased by 6.4% (-136 thousand 300), from this total, the time-related underemployed (visible underemployment) decreased by 19.9% (-85 thousand 500) and the underemployed by incomes (invisible underemployment) reduced by 3.0% (-50 thousand 800).
Average monthly incomecoming from work from the main activity increased by 8.5%
During the quarter September-October-November of 2025, the average monthly income coming from work from the main activity in Lima Metropolitan area placed in 2,242.6 Soles and compared to the same quarter of the year 2024, increased by 8.5% (175,7 Soles).
Greater increase of the average monthly income was registered in the employed population of 45 years old and older
During the quarter under analysis, the average monthly income coming from work of the main activity increased by 8.8% (191,4 Soles) compared to the same quarter of the last year, in the population of 45 years old and older, by 7.5% (162,9 Soles), in the group of 25 to 44 years old and in 4.6% (55,7 Soles) in the employed population of 14 to 24 years old.
Monthly income of employees with university superior education grew by 7.9%
In 7.9% (252,3 Soles) increased the average monthly income of employees with university superior education level, compared to the same period of 2024, in 5.0% (92,4 Soles) in the group that reached non-university superior education level by 4.7% (71,9 Soles) among those that have secondary education and in 2.1% (24,4 Soles) in those with primary education level or lower education level.
Population that works in the Commerce sector increased its average monthly income by 12.9%
The average monthly income coming from work increased among the employed population that perform activities in the Commerce sector by 12.9% (213,3 Soles), Construction 11.9% (267,3 Soles), Services by 7.4% (162,5 Soles) and Manufacturing by 7.1% (136,8 Soles).
