Potable water production increases in Lima Metropolitan area in October of 2025

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that according to the information provided by the Service of Potable Water and Sewerage Service of Lima Metropolitan area (SEDAPAL), during the month of October of 2025, potable water production in Lima Metropolitan area reached 67,309 000 cubic meters, a figure that represented an increase of 1.5% compared to the same month of the last year (66,290 000 cubic meters).
River’s flow of the central area of the Central Pacific slope
In the technical report Environmental Statistics is also informed that during the month of October, the average river flow of the Rimac River totalized 27,72 m3/s a higher figure in 30.4% and 28.7% compared to the same month of 2024 and to its historic average, respectively; and the Chillon River registered 3,65 m3/s that was higher in 122.6% and 31.3% compared to October 2024 and to its historic average.
Meanwhile, the average flow of Mala River reached 6,40 m3/s higher in 147.1% and 242.2% compared to the month of October of 2024 and to its historic average, respectively; and the Chancay-Huaral River registered 13,12 m3/s increasing in 102.2% and 129.8% compared to the month of October of 2024 and to its historic average.
Lima registered high levels of ultraviolet radiation
During the month of October 2025 and according to the information reached by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (SENAMHI), the ultraviolet radiation index in Lima reached the value of 7 which represented a high level for the health care. By comparing the result with the month of October 2023, was observe dan increase of 40.0%, because it was reported a value of 5, which meant a moderate level.
Tacna and Puno registered greater intensity of frosts
During the month of October and according to monitoring of 14 SENAMHI stations, the departments of Tacna and Puno registered the lowest temperatures.
In Tacna, the greater sensation of frost was registered in the station of Chuapalca (-16.5 °C); and in the department of Puno, in the stations of Mazo Cruz (-11.0 °C), Crucero Alto (-7.0 °C), Santa Rosa (-6.0 °C), Macusani (-5.4 °C), Cojata (-4.5 °C) and Desaguadero (-1.0 °C).
In addition, it registered low temperatures in Arequipa, in the stations of Salinas (-9.8 °C), Pillones (-9.4 °C), Imata (-9.0 °C) and Tisco (-4.5 °C); in Junin, in the stations of Laive (-5.1 °C) and La Oroya (-0.5 °C); and in the department of Pasco, in the station of Cerro de Pasco ( -1.2 °C).
457 emergencies were registered at national level
According the information of the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI), during the month of October of 2025 were registered 457 emergencies at national level, result that represented a decrease of 37.6% compared to the same month of 2024. Emergencies left a total of 2,074 affected people, 1,214 affected homes, 346 homes destroyed and 103 hectares of cultivated land destroyed.
The departments that registered the greater quantity of emergencies were: Cajamarca (67), Apurímac (38), Cusco (36), Amazonas (30), Piura (29), Lima and Ucayali (24 each one), Ancash (23), Huancavelica, Huánuco and San Martín (22 each one), Pasco (21), Junín (19), Ayacucho (18), Puno (12), Madre de Dios (9), Loreto, Moquegua and Tumbes (7 each one), Arequipa (6), Ica and Lambayeque (5 each one), La Libertad (3) and Tacna (1).
The emergencies were mainly caused by: heavy rains (135), urban and industrial fires (122), strong winds (120), low temperatures and forest fires (17 in each case), landslides (14), floods (8), erosions (7), electric storms (5), transportation accidents (4), collapse of hillside (3), earthquakes (2); as well as, huayco, pollution and explosion (1 in each case).
