INEI submits Platform about the Sustainable Development Goals for Childhood and Adolescence

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) makes available to the citizens the Platform about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), that gathers indicators about the situation of childhood and adolescence. Its purpose is to identify the reality of these population groups and to contribute to design of public policies based in evidence.


This platform allows to identify the gaps that persist in the childhood and adolesce, with special attention to the most vulnerable groups. The follow up and monitoring of the SDG is the joint work between the sectors of the State, the international cooperation and the civil society, for the purpose to guarantee that no child, boy, girl or adolescent is left aside in the path towards the sustainable development.


Contains data about the population of 0 to 17 years old, disaggregated by sex, age group, education level, mother tongue and quintile of wellbeing, among other variables. It allows to access to the historic series - mostly aged 10 – with updated information as of 2014 and it counts with the disaggregation at national level, by residence area, natural region, geographic domain and departments.


88% of the indicators comes from the INEI surveys
Of the 126 indicators that are part of the platform, 88% comes from the surveys executed by the INEI, such as the National Household Survey (ENAHO), the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES), the National Survey of Budgetary Programs (ENAPRES), the National Survey on Social Relations (ENARES) and the National Survey of Use of the Time (ENUT), among others.


The rest of indicators about the childhood and adolescence are prepared with information from the administrative records of the Ministry of Education (MINEDU) and the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI).


It is important to outstood that this tool, of public access, offers reliable data for the construction of indicators aligned with national and international standards. In addition, it includes interactive resources that makes easy the exploration and unload of information.
