Restaurants activity increased 2.24% in September of 2025

In September of 2025, the restaurants activity (food and beverage services) registered a variation of 2.24%, compared to the same month of the last year; this was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI). In addition, it also sharpened that from January to September of the current year, this activity accumulated a growth of 1.61%.


In this result influenced the positive evolution of the sectors of other activities of food services (food concessionaires or catering and supply of food for contractors), beverage service and supply of foods by demand; meanwhile, it decreased its activity the group of restaurants.


Services of concessionaires and supply of foods to transportation companies grew by 8.74% During the month under study, other activities of food services expanded by 8.74%, compared to September of 2024, due to the good performance of foods concessionaires before the expansion of its activity at national level, providing food service in dining rooms of mining, fishing, cement, manufacturing, electric, financing companies, as well as ministries, prison facilities, clinics and hospitals.


The same trend registered the supply of foods for contractors (services of food for air and inland transportation companies), due to the greater travel frequency due to festivities and fairs and international conventions performed in Lima and in the interior of the country.


Beverage service grew by 5.31%
During the month under analysis, the beverage service increased by 5.31%, compared to the month of September of 2024, due to the dynamism of business of cafeterias, bar restaurants, discos and bars, favoured by the organization of events in weekends, amplification of VIP zone and terraces, greater advertising in social media, renovation of restaurant’s menu and promotions due to delivery. Likewise, it contributed to this result, the activities developed in occasion of the Chocolate International Day.


Catering services increased by 31.01%
The supply of foods by demand (Catering) grew by 31.01%, during September of 2025, compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the service of preparation and distribution of foods for events, in response to the larger customer portfolio with contracts for marriages, birthdays, anniversaries, baptizes, baby showers, thematic parties, corporative meetings and press conferences.


Restaurants group showed a contractive behavior
During September of 2025, the behavior of the Restaurants group was lower by 0.15%, compared to the month of September of 2024, explained by the lower dynamism registered in business of Pollerías (chicken grill restaurants), Chifas (Chinese food restaurants), meats and grills, Cevicherías (seafood restaurants), confectioners, coffee restaurants, Creole food, ice-cream shops and pizza restaurants, as a result of the closure of facilities, restrictions to the access roads due to reparations, temporary closures due to maintenance and the increase of prices of menu’s restaurants.


On the other hand, it showed a favorable performance, the establishments of sandwich restaurants, fast foods, international food restaurants and touristic restaurants, based in agreements with bank entities, promotions, innovation of gastronomic menu’s restaurants including organic products, presentation of shows, attention of events and greater delivery service.


Among the activities that contributed to the positive performance outstood “Fusión”, “Ficte 2025” and “Foodies Food Festival”, in Lima, “PERUMIN 2025”, in Arequipa and “III edition of the Festival de la Gastronomía Amazónica – Sabor a Selva 2025”, in San Martín; as well as, it was celebrated the Kitchen’s Day and Peruvian Gastronomy.
