National Production increased 3.94% in September of 2025

During September of the current year, the national production registered an increase of 3.94%, compared to the same month of the last year; determined by the favorable result of the majority of the economic sectors; with exception of Telecommunications. Likewise, it was informed that during the period January-September of 2025, the productive activity increased 3.33% and in the last twelve months (October 2024 – September 2025) by 3.70%.


The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) based in the technical report National Production, detailed that this positive variation was possible due to the dynamism of the following sectors: Construction; Other Services; Agribusiness; Commerce; Mining and Hydrocarbons and Services of Government. Followed in order of importance: Manufacturing; Services Provided to Companies; Transportation, Storage and Courier; Accommodation and Restaurants; Electricity, Gas and Water; among the main ones.

Agribusiness sector increased 12.10%
In the nineth month of this year, the Agribusiness sector increased by 12.10%, compared to the same month of the last year; based in the behavior of the agriculture subsector (18.44%), associated to the larger volumes of production of olives (18,615.1%), avocado (112.9%), wheat (106.7%), dried bean (53.7%), onion (32.9%), coffee (27.1%) and sugar cane (13.5%). This added to the larger the area sown of the main agriculture products and weather factors such as rains and temperatures of normal to higher temperatures.

In parallel, the livestock subsector registered a positive variation of 3.45%, as a result of the greater volumes of poultry production (4.9%), swine (3.6%), fresh milk (3.6%) and eggs (1.0%).


Production of the Fishing sector increased by 6.37%
During the month under analysis, the Fishing sector grew 6.37%, compared to September of 2024; explained by the increase of the capture of species of maritime origin (14.11%), mainly of resources for direct human consumption 14.33%, reflected in the shipments of species destined to the preparation of caning (91.3%), consumption in fresh state (18.5%) and for frozen (9.1%); meanwhile, it decreased the shipment for the preparation of curing (-58.1%). On the other hand, the capture of species destined to indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil) did not registered extraction, due to the anchovy season closure.

On the other hand, the fishing of continental origin decreased by 25.39%, determined by the lower extraction of species for consumption in fresh state (-22.3%), for frozen (-38.0%) and for the preparation of curing (-40.4%).

The Mining and Hydrocarbons sector increased by 2.09%
During September of this year, the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector increased by 2.09%, compared to the same month of the year 2024; before the positive development of the metal-mining subsector by 2.28%, due to the increase of the production of zinc (25.5%), copper (3.2%), silver (11.3%), lead (18.7%), gold (1.6%) and tin (13.4%); in contrast to the unfavorable behavior of the molybdenum (-27.3%) and iron (-0.3%) production.

The hydrocarbons subsector registered a positive variation of 0.78%, that obeyed the larger volume of crude oil (21.8%); result that was dimmed by the reduction in the production of natural gas (-6.7%) and of liquids of natural gas (-3.8%).

Manufacturing sector increased by 1.73%
According to the figures of the Ministry of the Production, during the month under analysis, the Manufacturing sector grew 1.73%, compared to September of 2024; behavior that was determined by the positive behavior of the primary manufacturing (6.70%) and non-primary manufacturing (0.36%) subsector.

In the primary manufacturing subsector influenced the greater activity of the branches of preparation and preservation of fish, crustaceans and molluscs (150.13%), preparation and preservation of meat (3.86%) and sugar processing (13.34%); nevertheless, the product manufacturing of the oil refining (-6.35%) and the manufacture of primary products of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals (-4.70%). The positive performance of the non-primary manufacturing subsector answered to the greater production of the industry of intermediate goods (4.35%) and capital goods (23.62%); in spite of the lower production of the industry of consumption goods (-7.33%).

Production of Electricity, Gas and Water sector increased by 2.72%
The Electricity, Gas and Water sector increased 2.72%, in September of 2025, compared to the same month of the last year; due to the greater production of the electricity (2.74%), gas (0.83%) and the water (2.86%) subsector. The evolution of the electricity subsector was due to the increase of energy of hydroelectric origin by 8.25% and the energy of non-conventional renewable origin (wind-solar) by 17.38%; meanwhile, it was affected the production of thermoelectric energy (4.08%).

The increase of the distribution of the gas subsector, obeyed to the greater demand of the companies (8.9%), of the establishments of distribution of vehicular natural gas (5.3%); nevertheless, the demand of power generators (-1.1%). In the result of the water subsector influenced a greater generation of the Empresa Prestadora de Servicios de Saneamiento de Cajamarca (54.4%), Empresa Municipal de Servicio de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado de San Martín (31.0%), Seda Chimbote (18.4%), EPS Seda Cusco (12.5%), Epsel (5.1%) and Sedapal (1.9%).

Construction sector expanded by 10.24%
During the month under analysis, the Construction sector grew by 10.24%, compared to September of 2024; in response to the increase of the domestic cement consumption (11.15%) and the physical progress of public works (8.55%). In the domestic cement consumption was decisive the progress of private works, such as the improvement and expansion of its offices, of commercial facilities; progress of construction work for houses; industrial, mining and electric infrastructure, among others.

On the other hand, the physical progress of public works increased in the area of the Local and Regional Government; according to works, it increased the investment in the execution of the road infrastructure, of basic services and construction of non-residential buildings; meanwhile, the investment in works of risk prevention.

Commerce sector increased by 3.95%
During September of 2025, the Commerce sector increased by 3.95%, compared to the same month of the last year; driven by the wholesale (3.55%) due to the dynamism observed in the area of fuels (gasohol, diesel, gasoline) and lubricants, driven by the demand of service stations, gas stations and the industrial sector; in addition, it grew the commercialization of heavy-duty machine (backhoe loaders and mini-loaders), electric equipment and cables, which were driven by the performance of events such as the “Primer Roadshow de Maquinaria” and “Perumin 2025”. Likewise, it expanded the sale of computers and computer programs; as well as household goods.

The retail sale increased by 3.65% and the wholesale trade of fuels in gas stations and self-service stations; pharmaceutic, cosmetic and personal care products in establishments and dermo-cosmetics modules. At the same time, the supermarkets and mini-markets showed a greater dynamism due to in-line commercial strategies and for events such as the “Shopping Day”.

The automotive trade increased 8.52%, due to the greater demand of light-duty vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles and minor vehicles as a result of the better financing conditions, new models, the decrease in the exchange rate and the perform of events. The sale of parts, pieces and accessories mainly grew due to the demand of pneumatics and the opening of new retail outlets. Likewise, the maintenance services and repair of automotive vehicles grew due to new contracts and commercial strategies.

Transportation, Storage and Courier Sector progressed 2.88%
During the month under analysis, the production of Transportation, Storage and Courier Sector showed a growth of 2.88%, compared to September of 2024. In this performance contributed the favorable result of transportation subsector (2.20%); as well as the storage and courier (4.89%).

The transportation subsector increased by 2.20% due to the greater demand of transportation by land, of passengers (1.5%) and load (4.2%), the transportation by air (1.9%) supported by the increase in the movement of passengers and load of national and international type.

The storage and Courier subsector registered a positive variation of 4.89%, before the greater services of storage and support activities to the transportation (5.0%) and postal and courier services (3.7%).

Production of Accommodation facilities and Restaurants sector grew by 2.22%
During the nineth month of the year 2025, the Accommodation and Restaurants sector increased 2.22%, compared to the same month of the last year; due to the growth of the restaurants (2.24%) and accommodation (1.94%) subsectors.

The positive behavior of the restaurant subsector was explained by the positive evolution in the activities of food services for transportation companies and concessionaires (8.74%), beverage service (5.31%) and supply of foods by demand (31.01%). On the other hand, it was dimmed by the restaurant’s activities (-0.15%).

Telecommunications and Other Services of Information Sector registered an unfavorable performance
During the month of September of 2025, Telecommunications and Other Services of Information Sector was reduced by 0.12%, compared to September of the year 2024; mainly influenced by the result of the Telecommunication subsector (-0.88%); meanwhile, the Other Services of Information subsector increased (4.68%).

The contractive behavior of the telecommunications subsector was explained by the decrease of the services of data transmission (-8.1%) and of the telephone services (-4.7%); which cannot be dimmed by the growth of the Internet services and paid television (4.8%). The subsector other services of information grew by 4.68%, due to the positive behavior of the activities of production and film show and TV programs (24.1%), activities of TV and radio programming (4.3%), edition activities (3.9%), as well as activities of computer programming (0.1%).

Production of Financing and Insurance sector increased by 0.06%
During September of 2025, the Financing and Insurance sector grew by 0.06%, compared to the same month of the last year; due to greater credits (2.64%) granted by the financial system, that was counterbalanced by the contractive behavior of the deposits (-0.05%).

The credits of financial system that registered a growth corresponds to entities of Public Sector (9.5%), Municipal Banks (6.8%), Credit Companies Edpyme (4.2%), Multiple Banking (3.8%) and Rural Banks (1.4%); meanwhile, it decreased the credits of Financial Companies (-42.6%). On the other hand, the decrease of deposits was observed in the Financial Companies (-41.4%) and entities of the Public Sector (-13.9%).

Sector Services Provided to Companies increased 3.98%
During September of 2025, the sector Services Provided to Companies increased 3.98%, compared to the same month of the year 2024; due to the positive result of travel agencies and tour operators (6.3%), advertising and market research (6.2%), activities of administrative services and of support of companies (3.9%) and professional, scientific and technical activities (3.3%).

Government Services expanded by 4.57%
During the month under study, the Government Services grew 4.57%, compared to the month of September of 2024; in response to greater activities performed by institutions of the Public Administration (4.59%) and Defense (4.72%). Nevertheless, Other Services of Government decreased (-1.82%).
