INEI: Blueberry production grew by 117.3% in August of 2025 and two departments concentrated the 77.3% of the national total

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the month of August of 2025, the blueberry production at national level totalized 45 thousand 260 tons, higher level in 117.3% compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the increase of the external demand and the increase of the prices of export, which favoured the extension of the areas harvested of this crop destined for foreign market and agro-industry.
In the Technical Report Peru: Economic Outlook by Department, is also stated that the greater volumes obtained from the fruit, were registered in the departments of the north, being: La Libertad (152.7%) and Lambayeque (120.0%), which were concentrated the 77.3% of the national total. Likewise, increased in Lima (94.3%), Ica (63.3%), Piura (56.3%), Ancash (45.5%) and Moquegua (39.6%).
Potato production increased by 11.1%
During August of the current year, the potato production reached 217 thousand 368 tons, registering a growth of 11.1% compared to the same month of 2024, explained by the greater crops and good water conditions that allowed the maturation process of the crop with high domestic demand both of the households and the gastronomic sector, due to the different varieties that offer this tuber.
The main departments that influenced in this good performance, were: La Libertad (392.0%), Arequipa (69.3%) and Huánuco (20.8%), that together contributed with the 51.8% of the national total. Likewise, it increased in Pasco (34.2%), Ayacucho (13.6%) and Junín (8.9%).
On the other hand, it decreased in Apurímac (-97.5%), Huancavelica (-95.6%), Moquegua (-73.6%), Piura (-44.1%) and Amazonas (-20.2%), among others.
Poultry production increased by 3.3%
During the eight month of 2025, the poultry production increased by 3.3% compared to August of the last year, based in the greater placement of BB chicken of the meat line, in the main poultry centers that are placed in Lima (3.9%), La Libertad (3.2%) and Arequipa (2.6%), which concentrated the 83.3% of the national total.
In addition, it increased in San Martín (3.6%), Ancash (2.4%), Tacna (1.9%), Lambayeque (1.6%), Ucayali (1.5%), Piura (1.4%), Loreto (1.4%), Ica (1.3%), Huánuco (1.2%), Puno (1.1%) and Moquegua (0.6%).
Meanwhile that it reduced in the departments of Apurímac (-5.8%), Pasco (-5.4%), Tumbes (-4.6%), Ayacucho (-2.5%), Junín (-1.6%), Cusco (-1.2%), Huancavelica (-1.2%), Amazonas (-1.0%), Cajamarca (-0.8%) and Madre de Dios (-0.7%).
Copper production decreased by 2.0%
During August of 2025 and after two months of consecutive growth, the copper production got a reduction of 2.0% compared to the same month of the last year, due to the low extraction performed in the mining company Antamina associated to the low copper grade; as well as in the companies Southern Perú Copper Corporation, Cerro Verde, Minera Las Bambas, Hudbay Perú and Volcan.
According to departments it contributed in this favorable result, Tacna (-15.5%), Ancash (-13.2%), Huánuco (-11.2%), Arequipa (-8.3%), Apurímac (-7.8%) and Cajamarca (-5.9%). Nevertheless, it increased in Ayacucho (38.7%), Huancavelica (13.8%), Moquegua (13.2%), Ica (11.3%), Junín (9.2%), Cusco (7.5%), Pasco (1.1%) and Lima (0.3%).
It is worth to mention that during the month under analysis, increased the production of zinc (29.2%), gold (8.1%), iron (7.6%), tin (3.6%), silver (2.1%) and lead (1.5%); nevertheless, it decreased the extraction of molybdenum (-20.7%).
Electric energy production increased by 1.0%
The production of electric energy increased by 1.0% during August of the current year, compared to the same month of 2024, determined by the greater generation of the hydroelectric energy in the power stations of Chaglla, San Gabán II, Machupicchu, Chimay, Gallito Ciego, Aricota I and Cerro del Águila, basically. The same behavior, registered presented the generation of non-conventional renewable energy, before the greater production of solar energy. Meanwhile that it decreased the generation of thermoelectric energy in the power stations of Aguaytía, Refinería Talara, Malacas I, Nepi, Kallpa, Santo Domingo de Olleros and Fénix, among others.
Meanwhile, seventeen departments showed a positive performance, outstanding the following departments: Puno (156.4%), Arequipa (59.2%), Huánuco (59.0%), Junín (22.8%), Cusco (15.8%) and Huancavelica (1.6%), which contributed with the 29.3% of the total generated.
Nevertheless, it reduced the generation of electric energy in Ucayali (-73.0%), Ancash (-34.3%), Ica (-14.3%), Piura (-9.4%), Moquegua (-6.4%), Pasco (-4.5%) and Lima (-2.1%); in spite of this, this last department was the first producer and contributed with the 54.1% of the national total.
Revenues collected by internal taxes grew by 23.1%
During August of 2025, the revenues collected by internal taxes amounted 13 thousand 442 million 324 thousand Soles, a higher figure in 23.1% compared to the captured in the same month of the last year, driven by the greater payments performed of the income tax of the first, third, fourth and fifth category; as well as the payments of taxes of non-domiciled subjects, regularization, special regime of the income tax and tax MYPE regime. In addition, the value added tax, the selective excise tax and the special mining tax.
It is worth to mention that, twenty-one departments registered favorable behavior, outstanding Lima (25.0%), Arequipa (8.8%) and La Libertad (3.9%), which contributed with 92.7% of the total collected; meanwhile that, it decreased in Tumbes (-6.1%), Ancash (-1.7%) and Piura (-0.6%).
