INEI requests the support of the Ministry of the Interior to strength the security during the last tranche of the 2025 National Censuses

Fifteen days before concluding the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) stated the census registration in areas considered of high risk at national level, with the support of the National Police of Peru (PNP), in order to guarantee the secure development of the census labours.


In this context, the chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, thanked the permanent accompaniment of the PNP to the census officers, which had allowed a sustained progress of the work across the country and, in some cases, the effective control of situations that endangered the integrity of the census personnel.


“On behalf of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics, express our appreciation to the commitment of the Ministry of the Interior with the security and the order across the country”, stated Morán Flores from the city of Chimbote, where it participated in the Table of Regional Articulation for the Security of the Census Personnel.


Likewise, asked the Minister of the Interior, Vicente Tiburcio, its strong and priority support to strength the protection of the census officers, whom daily travels areas of difficult access and risk, fulfilling an important mission of census register the population in all the corners of the country.


“With your support, Minister, we will ensure that this last phase is developed with the tranquility and confidence that the country deserves”, stressed the chief of the INEI.


2025 National Censuses are a task of all. To guarantee the security of whom that make it happens is a shared responsibility, stated Morán.


More than 12 million 300 thousand households had been censused registered
Fifteen days before concluding the 2025 National Censuses, the number of census registered households at national level reached 12 million 374 thousand 659, which represents the 89% of the total programmed (13 million 902 thousand 909 households).


This result reflects the commitment of the census personal and the positive response of the population to this important statistical activity, which results Will Benefit all Peruvians and will boost the development of the country.


From Chimbote, the chief of the INEI informed that the departments with greater progress are: San Martín - Moyobamba (99.7%), Tumbes (99.4%), Junín (98.1%), Piura (96.4%), Huánuco (95.8%), Loreto (95.5%), Cajamarca (94.2%), Puno (93.1%), Arequipa (92.8%) and Cusco (92.5%). In this same city, the census progress reached 89%.


Likewise, it outstood that all the departments of the country overcome the 60% of the progress.


In this sense, Morán Flores made a special call to the population of Madre de Dios to collaborate with the census registration, since that thus far it had been census registered a little more than 65 thousand households.


293 districts of the country registered a greater census progress
The chief of the INEI highlighted that 293 districts of the country register a greater progress in the census registration.


Among them are:

* Amazonas: Cheto, Soloco, Chisquilla and Churuja.

* Áncash: Colcabamba, Huacllán, Succha, Abelardo Pardo Lezameta, Cajacay, Canis and Colquioc.

* Apurímac: Soraya and Vilcabamba.

* Ica: Pachacútec and Túpac Amaru Inca.

* Lambayeque: Eten Puerto, Nueva Arica and San José.

* Arequipa: Pocsi, San Juan de Siguas, Santa Isabel de Siguas, Atiquipa, Jaqui and Lomas.

* Cajamarca: Jorge Chávez, San Juan de Licupis and San Luis.

* Cusco: Pucyura, Lares and Pampamarca.

* Lima: San Buenaventura, Santa Cruz de Flores, San Miguel de Acos, Callahuanca, Carampoma, Huachupampa, Huanza, San Pedro de Laraos, San Antonio, San Bartolomé, San Juan de Iris, San Juan de Tantaranche, San Pedro de Casta, San Pedro de Huancayre, Santiago de Anchucaya, Santiago de Tuna, Azángaro and Cacra.
