INEI: More than 11 million 500 thousand households had been registered as of the second month of the 2025 National Censuses

Having just completed two months of the development of the 2025 National Censuses: XIII Population, VIII of Household and IV of Indigenous Communities, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that it has been census registered 11 million 570 thousand 678 households across the country, which represented a progress of 83.2% from the total programmed (13 million 902 thousand 909).
The chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, stressed that this important progress is the result of the commitment of more than 30 thousand census officers that travels around the country and of the support of the citizens that receive them in their households.
“Each census survey would allow all of us to know better the reality of Peru and to construct public policies that improve the life of all of us”, stated.
From the Monitoring Center of the 2025 National Censuses, Morán Flores informed that the departments with greater progress are: San Martín (97.2%), Tumbes (92.4%), Junín (89.5%), Piura (89.2%), Arequipa (87.3%), Puno (85.7%), Loreto (85.5%), Lambayeque (85.4%), Huánuco (85.3%) and Tacna (85.3%).
Likewise, he informed that all the departments of the country overcame the 50% of the progress. Morán Flores made a special call to the population of Madre de Dios to receive with openness the census officers, given that from most of the 100 thousand households programmed to census register, just had been registered a little bit more than 55 thousand.
The chief of the INEI highlighted that 120 districts of the country registered a greater progress: Among them there are the following districts, Cheto, Soloco, Chisquilla and Churuja (Amazonas); Colcabamba, Huacllán, Succha, Abelardo Pardo Lezameta, Cajacay, Canis and Colquioc (Ancash); Soraya and Vilcabamba (Apurímac); Pocsi, San Juan de Siguas, Santa Isabel de Siguas, Atiquipa, Jaqui and Lomas (Arequipa); Jorge Chávez, San Juan de Licupis and San Luis (Cajamarca); and Pucyura, Lares and Pampamarca (Cusco), among others.
In Lima and Callao, outstand the following districts, Barranco, Lince, Mi Perú (Callao), Breña, Chaclacayo, Villa El Salvador, San Luis, Carmen de la Legua Reynoso, Santa Rosa, Jesús María, San Juan de Miraflores, La Molina, Bellavista, Ancon and Magdalena del Mar.
Security and support to census officers
Morán Flores reaffirmed the support of the INEI to all the census officers that with effort and commitment, have been fulfilled this important national labour.
“We call the citizens to receive with respect and empathy. The information that you provide is valuable for the development of the country”, he underlined.
Attention before incidences
The chief of the INEI he explained that between August and October, were registered different incidences to which the institution answered activating the security protocols and offering integrated accompaniment to the census officers affected.
He also stated that, since the start of the 2025 National Censuses, had been registered 112 cases of physical or verbal aggression, 117 tablets stolen, 376 dog bites, 663 accidents or injuries and 10 cases of sexual assault or sexual harassment.
He also informed that in the last mile the census in areas with highest rate of criminal incidences. Fort this reason, reiterated his call to the National Police of Peru to reinforce the actions of protection and monitoring in all the areas where the census work is developed, in order to guarantee the integrity of the personnel.
Finally, Morán Flores requested the citizens to collaborate with the census registration, providing its support and opening the doors to the census officers. Likewise, he recalled that before any queries or doubt you may communicate with the telephone lines of the INEI.
