INEI: National production grew 3.41% in July of 2025 due to the positive performance of thirteen productive sectors

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that the national production in July of 2025 registered a growth of 3.41%, compared to the same month of the last year. This positive performance resulted mainly from the Agribusiness sector, followed by Manufacturing, Commerce, Construction, Mining, Hydrocarbons sectors and Other Services, that together explained more than the 70% of the global evolution.
Likewise, the Public Administration, Services Provided to Companies, Fishing, Electricity, Gas and Water, Telecommunications and Financing sectors showed a positive behavior. Meanwhile that the Accommodation and Restaurants sector registered a lower activity, according to the stated in the technical report of National Production.
On the other hand, during the period of January-July of 2025, the national economy increased 3.35%, compared to the same period of the last year and during the last twelve months, from August to July of 2024, registered a variation of 3.65%.
Agribusiness sector grew by 8.49% based in the agriculture production
During July of 2025, the Agribusiness sector increased 8.49%, compared to the same month of the year 2024; based in the dynamism of the agriculture subsector (11.97%), before the greater volumes of olive production (8,341.1%), starchy maize (48.0%), potato (45.8%), cacao (40.8%), dried fava (34.2%), sugar cane (18.6%) and avocado (8.0%); determined by the greater harvested area of the main agriculture products, the main agriculture products, favoured by weather factors (rains and minimum to higher temperatures).
The livestock subsector increased by 2.66% due to the greater volumes of poultry (3.4%), swine (3.2%), fresh milk (3.2%) and cattle beef (1.2%) production.
The production of the Fishing sector increased by 34.85%
During July of 2025, the Fishing sector showed a growth of 34.85%, compared to the same month of the last year; due to the greater landing of species of maritime origin (32.87%), oriented to indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil), that in July of 2025 totalized 292,148 tons and against the 39,203 tons registered in July of 2024, evidence an increase of 645.23%. The greater capture of anchovy came from the ports of Chicama, Callao, Tambo de Mora, Chimbote and Pisco, mainly.
On the other hand, the capture of species destined to direct human consumption reduced by 30.15% before the lower availability of species for frozen (-53.9%), preparation of caning (-16.5%), for consumption in fresh state (-6.4%) and preparation of curing (-3.4%).
The fishing of continental origin increased by 48.23%, before the greater extraction of species for consumption in fresh (39.7%) a frozen (159.3%) state.
Mining and Hydrocarbons sector increased by 1.95% due to the dynamism of the metallic mining
During July of 2025, the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector grew 1.95%, determined by the positive evolution of the metal-mining subsector by 1.92%, before the greater production of zinc (17.3%), tin (7.6%), gold (7.5%), silver (2.9%), copper (2.0%) and lead (1.0%); nevertheless, the production of iron (-0.1%) and molybdenum (-17.5%) reduced.
The hydrocarbons subsector increased by 2.16% influenced due to the greater volume of exploitation of crude oil (14.8%); nevertheless, the extraction of natural gas (-0.6%) and liquids of natural gas (-3.7%) reduced.
Manufacturing sector increased by 3.65%
During July of 2025, the manufacturing sector grew 3.65% due to the favorable result of the primary manufacturing subsector (7.04%) and non-primary manufacturing subsector (2.58%). The positive evolution of the primary manufacturing subsector answered to the greater activity of processing and preserving of fish, crustaceans and molluscs (18.84%), production of primary product of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals (8.24%), manufacture of products of oil refining (4.63%), as well as the processing and preserving of meat (3.02%); nevertheless, the sugar processing contracted (-25.76%).
The increase of the non-primary manufacturing subsector was based in the greater production of the industry of capital goods (39.67%) and intermediate goods (0.78%); on the other hand, the industry of consumption goods registered a reduction (-0.51%).
Electricity, Gas and Water Sector registered a positive variation of 2.07%
During the seventh month of this year, the Electricity, Gas and Water sector grew by 2.07% compared to July of 2024; based in the greater activity of the electricity (2.32%) and water (1,15%) subsectors; on the other hand, the gas distribution was affected (-3.46%).
The behavior of the electricity subsector was driven by the generation of hydroelectric origin energy (13.94%); result that was dimmed by the decrease of the thermoelectric origin energy (-5.62%) and the renewable, wind and solar origin energy (-2.48%).
The positive result of the water subsector was determined by the greater generation of potable water registered by the companies Seda Chimbote (10.1%), Epsel (5.6%), Sedalib (5.3%), EPS Tacna (4.5%), EPS Grau (3.6%) and Sedapal (2.1%), among the main ones. In addition, the contraction of the gas subsector was determined by the lower demand of Electric Generators (-5.7%) and of the Companies (-3.0%); nevertheless, the demand of gas station establishments of natural gas vehicles increased (5.3%).
Construction sector increased by 5.03%
During July of 2025, the Construction sector increased by 5.03%, compared to the same month of the last year; associated to the greater domestic cement consumption (7.19%) and the physical progress of public works (0.20%). The growth of the domestic cement consumption was due to the dynamism of private works such as infrastructure of multifamily buildings, works of civil engineering for distribution of electricity grids, mining-civil works, remodeling works in shopping centers and in markets, among the main ones.
The physical progress of public works was higher in the areas of Local and Regional Government; meanwhile that the investment in the National Government decreased. In this context, the investments in projects of road infrastructure increased; on the other hand, the investment in the prevention of labour risks decreased, as well as the projects of non-residential buildings and works in basic services.
Growing behavior registered the Commerce sector
During July of 2025, the Commerce sector increased by 2.72%, compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the good performance of the wholesale commerce (2.38%) due to the sale of heavy-duty machinery; fuels and lubricants; metals and minerals such as gold and zinc; and computers and peripheral equipment grew before the promotions on the occasion of National Holidays, “Cyber Days” and “Cyber Wow”.
The retail trade increased 2.46% due to the greater sale of fuel; due to the greater sale of fuel; sale of technological devices, optical articles, veterinary and agrochemical products; and pharmaceutical medical and cosmetic products, before the opening of stores and new lines of products. In addition, the automotive trade grew 6.61%, determined by the demand of light, heavy and small vehicles, better credit terms with lowest interest rates; as well as the dynamism in the sale of its parts, pieces and accessories such as pneumatics and filters. At the same time, the maintenance and the repair of automotive vehicles kept a positive trend due to the greater contracts of technical intervention in LPG conversion systems.
Transportation, Storage and Courier sector increased by 4.28%
During July of 2025, the Transportation, Storage and Courier sector registered a positive variation of 4.28%, compared to July of 2024; due to the favorable result of the transportation (3.54%) and, storage and courier (6.15%) subsectors.
The growth of the transportation subsector answered to the area of transportation by road and by pipping (2.19%), before the greater movement in road, of passengers (1.7%) and load (3.3%); as well as the greater transportation by pipping by 0.7%, due to the increase of the production of crude oil; on the other hand, the rail transportation (-9.8%) decreased due to the decrease of the cargo movement.
The transportation by airway increased by 8.06%, before the greater movement of passengers and load, both national and international. The transportation by water route expanded by 7.34%, explained by the greater transportation of goods by maritime transportation; as well as the traffic of passengers and load by inland waterway. The positive variation of the storage and Courier subsector was due to the greater services of storage and activities of support to the transportation (6.51%), as well as the postal and courier services (0.15%).
Accommodation and Restaurants sector registered a lower productive activity
During July of 2025, the Accommodation and Restaurants sector reduced by 0.82%, compared to the same month of the year 2024; explained by the negative performance of the restaurants subsector (-0.87%); dimmed by the increase of the accommodation subsector (2.78%). The behavior of the restaurant’s subsector was associated to the closure of facilities, as well as the citizen insecurity; to which it added a lower investment in advertising campaigns.
Among the business of restaurants (-1.91%) that registered lower demand were the Chifas (Chinese foods), fast foods, pollerías (Grilled chicken), coffee restaurants, meats and grill. On the other hand, the services of food for companies of transportation and concessionaires (2.12%), catering services (26.17%) and beverage services (0.42%).
Telecommunications and Other Services of Information increased by 0.2%
During the seventh month of 2025, the Telecommunications and Other Services of Information sector increased 0.20%, compared to July of 2024; mainly influenced by the result of the telecommunications subsector that increased by 0.59%; meanwhile, the other services of information subsector reduced (-2.76%). The favorable behavior of the telecommunications subsector was explained by the greater activity of Internet services and pay television (4.2%); nevertheless, the service of data transmission (-1.2%) and telephone service (-1.7%) decreased.
In the contractive behavior of the other services of Information subsector influenced the decrease of the production and screening of films and television programs (- 13.5%), edition activities (-2.7%) and activities of television and radio programming (-2.3%); nevertheless, the activities of computer programing activities (0.5%) increased.
Financing and Insurance sector increased by 0.03%
During July of 2025, Financing and Insurance sector increased by 0.03%, compared to the same month of the last year; due to the greater credits (1.82%) and deposits (2.73%) granting by the financial system.
According to entities of the financial system, granted greater credits of the entities of the Public Sector (8.9%), Municipal Savings (6.4%), Multiple Banking (3.1%) and Rural Banks (1.1%); on the other hand, registered lower credits the Financing Companies (-44.9%) and Companies of Créditos-Edpyme (-1.2%). On the other hand, the greater deposits were observed in entities of Rural Banks (7.0%), Multiple Banking (5.2%) and Municipal Savings (5.0%).
Sector Services Provided to Companies increased by 2.86%
During July of 2025, the sector Services Provided to Companies increased by 2.86%, compared to July of 2024; due to the positive result of advertising and market research (5.0%), travel agencies and tour operators (4.1%), activities of services of administration and support for companies’ (2.8%), and professional, scientific and technical activities (2.4%).
Government Services keep a growing trend
During the seventh month of 2025, the Government Services increased by 4.01%, compared to July of 2024; based in the greater activities performed by the institutions of Public Administration (4.04%) and Defense (4.08%).
Other Services sector increased by 3.45%
During July of 2025, the Other Services sector registered a positive variation of 3.45%, compared to the same month of the last year; based in the positive result of the health (5.2%), education (3.5%), business activities (3.1%) and personal services (2.0%). In Personal services registered a positive variation the activities of professional associations linked to the area of health, engineering and business associations of the construction, mining, real state and artistic sector, mainly; likewise, the recreative activities increased, such as national and international artistic shows and theatre plays; repair of computers and peripheral equipment, and service of washing and cleaning among others.
