INEI will share with the National Police force the schedule of visits of the census officers in Piura

With the goal of guaranteeing the security of the census officers that go across the country to carry out the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) continues coordinating actions with the National Police of Peru (PNP) that ensure the development of the registration in conditions of safeguard and trust.
In this regard, the chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, announced that a weekly schedule of census officers’ visits will be sent to the PNP, so that the police officials can accompany the work in areas considered of higher risk and immediately attend any wake-up call.
Likewise, he also underlined that the PNP had made available to the INEI a direct telephone line, through which incidents aroused in field work will be reported especially those that require effective police support.
The chief of the INEI also stressed that, since the Monitoring Center of the 2025 National Censuses, a real-time tracking of census personnel is been performed across the country. He also stated that the geolocalisation by GPS allows to know the exact location of the census officers during their trips.
In its visit to Piura, Gaspar Morán led the Table of Regional Articulation for the Security of the Census Personnel, that which included the participation of the chief of the Police Division of Piura, PNP Colonel Sergio Martín Monroy Díaz; representatives of the Peruvian Army and of the Navy Force of Perú; as well as different institutions of the State.
53.3% of houses in Piura had been census registered
After more than a month of the beginning of the 2025 National Censuses, in the department of Piura hand been census registered 405,799 houses, which represented a progress of the 53.3% of the total programmed (761,967). The provinces that exceeded the 50% of progress were Morropón (56.2%), Talara (55.8%), Piura (54.4%), Sullana (54.1%), Huancabamba (52.8%), Sechura (50.9%) and Ayabaca (50.6%). Meanwhile Paita registers a progress of 43.2%.
