It increases the access to health insurance of women and men

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that according to the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO) of the second quarter of 2025, 93.2% of women and 90.4% of men have health insurance. Compared to the same quarter of the last year, the proportion of women and men increased by 1.7 y 2.2 percentage points, respectively. Regarding to the same quarter of the last year, the proportion of women and men increased by 1.7 and 2.2 percentage points, respectively.


In the technical report Statistics with Gender Perspective is stated that according the type of health insurance, 65.4% of women have Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS), 23.3% insurance of EsSalud and 4.6% other type of health insurance. In the case of men, 61.2% is affiliated to the SIS, 23.9% to EsSalud and 5.4% to other type of health insurance.


More women than men with health problems sought medical attention
The results of the ENAHO of the second quarter of 2025 showed that 39.4% of women with chronic health problems sought medical attention, a higher figure in 4.0 percentage points compared to men (35.4%).


According to age group, it was appreciated that women of 60 years old and older with chronic health problems (42.0%) sought medical attention in greater proportion; and in the case of men were those of 0 to 14 years old (41.4%).


It increases the proportion of women and men with access to financial system
During the second quarter of 2025, the percentage of women of 18 years old and older that had some account in the financial system (savings, foxed-term or current account) reached 60.1% and in the case of men 63.0%, increasing in 2.9 and 1.8 percentage points, respectively, compared to the second quarter of 2024.


By age groups, it was observed a greater percentage of women (65.0%) and men (65.9%) of 18 to 29 years old that have some banking account in the financial system. In the case of women and men of 30 to 59 years old reached 61.0% and 62.6%, respectively. Meanwhile, women and men of 60 years old and older with access to the financial system reached the 50.9% and 59.9%, respectively.

Greater proportion of women use the Internet to communicate
During the period under analysis, 92.0% of women of 6 years old and older used the Internet to communicate, 91.2% for entertainment, 81.6% to obtain information and 35.0% to operations in electronic bank and other financial services, among the main ones.


In the case of men, 93.7% used the Internet for activities of entertainment, 91.5% performed activities to communicate, 83.6% to obtain information and 36.4% for operations in electronic banking, among others.

Girls attended early education level in greater proportion
During the second quarter of 2025, 96.2% of girls of 3 to 5 years old attended early education, a higher figure in 2.4 percentage points compared to boys (93.8%). Compared with the same period of 2024, the attendance of girls and boys to this education level decreased by 1.1 and 1.9 percentage points, respectively.


Regarding to primary education it was observed that the attendance of boys of 6 to 11 years old (98.4%) was higher to that of girls (96.9%) in 1.5 percentage points; meanwhile that in secondary education, the attendance of female adolescents (93.5%) surpassed their male peers (91.1%) in 2.4 percentage points.


71 out of 100 women work in the activities of Commerce and Services
During the second quarter of 2025 and according with the results of the Permanent Survey of National Employment (EPEN), 70.6% of women that work inserted in the activity of Commerce (25.1%) and Services (45.5%); meanwhile that men in these sectors reached the 53.4% (13.9 in Commerce and 39.5% in Services).


Meanwhile, women that work in Agriculture/Fishing/Mining reached 20.9% and men reached 26.6%; in Manufacture was of 7.8% and 9.3% of women and men, respectively; and in the sector Construction worked 10.6% of men and just 0.8% of women.
