More than 88 thousand companies were created in Peru between April and June of 2025

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that in the second quarter of 2025 88,654 companies registered, a higher figure in 25.6% compared to the same period of the last year. Nevertheless, 58,120 companies discharged registered, a lower quantity by 46.7% compared to the second quarter of 2024.

In the technical report Business Demography in Peru, prepared with the information of the Taxpayers' Register of the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT), is stated that during the second quarter of 2025 there are 3´335,445 companies registered in the from the Central Company and Establishment Directory, a lower quantity in 1.0% compared to the same quarter of the last year.

According to the economic activity, the greater number of companies created compared to the total of them, was concentrated in Commerce and repair of automotive vehicles and motorcycles (38.9%), followed by other services (14.7%) and Services provided to companies (10.7%). In contrast, it was observed a lower participation in the creation of companies of Accommodation (0.7%) and Information and communications (1.3%).

During the second quarter of 2025, in Lima Metropolitan area were created 29,801 companies, which represented the 33.6% of the total; it means, of each 10 new companies, three were registered in the capital. Likewise, 23,200 companies of Lima Metropolitan area discharged registered, represented the 39.9% of the total of closures.

Natural persons with business represented the 59.7% of the total of companies created, followed by the constituted as limited company (18.2%) and those that started operations as individual limited liability company (13.6%), among the most relevant.

Regarding the economic activity, during the second quarter of 2025 of the 16,195 companies constituted as limited company, 28.8% were devoted to Commerce and repair of automotive vehicles and motorcycles, 21.5% to Services provided to companies and the 13.2% to other services, among the main ones.

During the period under analysis, from total of companies created as natural persons, 26,490 were led by men (50.1%), which evidenced a participation almost equitable between men and women in the conduction of this type of venture.

During the second quarter of 2025, it was registered a higher presence of men, such as business owners in Construction (82.4%), Exploitation of mines and quarries (79.0%), Transportation and storage (78.3%), Information and communications (74.5%) and Sale and repair of vehicles (70.7%).

By economic activity, women mainly led the new companies registered as natural persons in Beauty Salons (68.8%), Attention to human health (68.1%), Services of foods and beverages (63.9%), Retail commerce (60.5%), Accommodation (59.1%) and Wholesale commerce (56.5%).
