Entry of foreigners into Peru increased 6.7% in the second quarter of 2025

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that according to the information provided by the National Superintendency of Migrations, during the second quarter of 2025, the entry of foreigners of the country reached 1,054.451 movements a higher result in 6.7% compared to the same period of 2024.

In the technical report Peru: Migratory Movements of International Entries and Exits, shows that according to sex, 52.0% of foreigners that entered to Peru were men (548,333) and 48.0% women (506,118). Compared to the second quarter of 2024, was observed that the entry of women and men grew by 7.5% and 5,9%, respectively.


32.3% of foreigners that entered the country arrived from Chile
According to the place of origin, 32.3% of foreigners that entered the country came from Chile, followed by United States with 13.8%, Colombia 9.1%, Ecuador 8.5%, Bolivia 6.9%, Brazil 5.8%, Spain 5.7% and Panama 4.5%. It is worth to mention that these countries concentrate the 86.6% of the total of entries of foreigners to Peru.


56.2% of foreigners that arrived to Peru are adults of 30 to 59 years of age
During the period under analysis and by group of age, from the total of entry movements of foreigners, 56.2% are between 30 and 50 years old, 19.1% are older adults, 18.4% are between 15 to 29 years old and those population of 15 years old totalized 6.3%.


Greater proportion of foreigners entered the country by the checkpoint of the Jorge Chavez International Airport
During the second quarter of the current year, the main migratory checkpoint of entry movements of foreigners that came from abroad was through the Jorge Chavez International Airport with 636,143 movements, followed by Santa Rosa in Tacna with 254,366 entries. Both checkpoints concentrated the 84.4% of the entry movements of foreigners.


Exits of foreigners of the country increased by 6.2%
During the period under analysis, the quantities of exits of foreigners from the country totalized 1,032.986 movements, figure that represented an increase of 6.2% compared to the second quarter of 2024. From the total of foreigners that left Peru, 52.2% were men and the 47.8% were women.


Peruvians that went abroad increased by 8.5%
During the second quarter of 2025, the total of movements of exits of Peruvians that went abroad totalized 931,451, a higher result by 8.5% compared to the same period of 2024.


According to sex, 50.5% of Peruvians that left the country were men and 49.5% were women.


62.8% of Peruvians that went abroad are 30 to 59 years of age
According to the age group, the greater proportion of departures movements of domestic flights were registered by Peruvian of 30 to 59 years with 62.8%, followed by older adults (60 years old and older) with 16.6%, young people of 15 to 29 years old with 16.2%, and young people under 15 years old by 4.4%.


53.6% of the exits of Peruvians that went abroad were registered through the checkpoint of the Jorge Chavez International Airport
During the period April-May-June 2025, 53.6% from the total of departures of Peruvians was performed by the Migratory checkpoint of Jorge Chávez International Airport, followed by Santa Rosa in Tacna with 31.4%; both checkpoints concentrated the 85.0% of the international exits of Peruvians.


Total migratory flow in Peru grew 7.7%
During the second quarter of 2025, the total migratory flow of entries and exits of Peruvians and foreigners totalized 3,927.589 movements, higher result by 7.7% compared to the same period of 2024. This result was based in the greater Flow of entries (8.0%) and exits (7.3%) of Peruvian and foreigners.
