Mining and Hydrocarbons sector increased 1.10% in July of 2025

In July of 2025, Mining and Hydrocarbons sector registered an increase of 1.10% compared to the same month of the last year. This result was explained by the growth of the metal-mining (0.93%) and hydrocarbons (2.16%) subsectors. This result was explained by the growth of the metal-mining subsectors.


According to the technical report Conjuncture Progress of Economic Activity of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), within the metal mining subsector showed a positive performance the zinc (17.3%), tin (7.6%), gold (7.5%), silver (2.9%), copper (2.2%) and lead (1.0%) production. On the other hand, the iron (-0.1%) and molybdenum (-27.3%) production decreased.


In the case of hydrocarbons, it was registered a greater volume of exploitation of crude oil (14.8%); nevertheless, the extraction of natural gas (-0.6%) and of liquids of natural gas (-3.7%) reduced.


Fishing sector Pesca increased 34.85%
The Fishing sector registered a growth of 34.85% in July of 2025, compared to the same month of the last year. This result was due to the greater landing of species of maritime origin (32.87%) intended for indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil). In this case, the capture totalized 292,148 tons, a figure significantly higher than the 39,203 tons registered in July of 2024, which represented an increase of 645,23%. The greater capture of anchovy mainly came from of the ports of Chicama, Callao, Tambo de Mora, Chimbote and Pisco.


On the other hand, the fishing intended for direct human consumption reduced by 30.15%, due to the lower availability of species for frozen (-53.9%), preparation of canning (-16.5%), consumption in fresh state (-6.4%) and preparation for curing (-3.4%).


Likewise, the fishing of continental origin increased by 48.23%, driven by the greater extraction of species for consumption in fresh (39.7%) and frozen (159.3%) state.


Electricity subsector showed a growth of 1.72%
During July of 2025, the production of electricity subsector grew 1.72% compared to the same month of the last year. This behavior was based in the greater generation of hydroelectric origin energy (13.47%), although it was dimmed by the reduction of the thermoelectric generation (-6.47%) and the wind and solar renewable energy (-2.68%).


Among the companies that increased its production outstood the PowerStation Company Huallaga, Chinango, San Gabán, Inland Energy, Electric PowerStation Company Machupicchu, the PowerStation Company Huanza, Statkraft Perú, Electric PowerStation El Platanal (Celepsa), Electroperú and Kallpa Generación. On the other hand, the following companies: Fenix Power Perú, Orygen Perú, Electric PowerStation Company of Arequipa (Egasa), Termochilca, Orazul Energy Perú, Enel Generación Piura, Engie Energía Perú and Renewable Energy of the South, registered a lower production.


Domestic cement consumption increased 7.19%
In July of 2025, the domestic cement consumption increased by 7.19% compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the dynamism of works of the private sector.


Consumption credits grew 8.44%, the highest rate so far this year
During the month under analysis, the consumption credits reached S/ 76,684 million, registering a growth of 8.44% compared to July of 2024. Likewise, the mortgage credit totalized S/ 69,131 million (6.19% more) and the credits granted to corporations, big, medium and small and micro-business totalized S/ 220,744 million, with an increase of 3.22% compared to the same month of the last year.


On the other hand, the placement of credit cards of the multiple banking was placed in 6,639 thousand units in July of 2025, which represented an increase of 5.71% compared to the same month of the last year.


Total imports grew 6.86%
In July of 2025, the imports reached a total value of US$ 5,170 million, a higher amount by 6.86% to the registered in July of 2024, according to the available information as of August 19 of the current year.


During the month under analysis, the import of capital goods and construction materials totalized US$ 1,570 million, with a positive variation of 17.17%. Followed by the consumption goods, that totalized US$ 1,095 million and grew by 11.42%. million and grew 11.42%.


On the other hand, the imports of raw materials and intermediate products totalized US$ 2,502 million, which represented a reduction of 0.52% compared to the value imported in July of 2024.
