INEI continues articulating actions for strengthen the security of the census officers at national level

For the purpose of protecting thousands of census officers that travel all over the country within the framework of the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, the chief of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), Gaspar Morán Flores, continues its efforts with the National Police of Peru, as well as with the regional and local authorities, in order to guarantee the security of the field personnel.

In this opportunity, Morán Flores arrived to Chiclayo, Lambayeque, where he met with the chief of the Police Region, Director General of the PNP Luis Ángel Bolaños Melgarejo, to stablish accompanying measures to census officers during his labors, in special in zones considered of greater risk.

The chief of the INEI ratified the commitment of the National Police of Peru and the Serenazgo District of José Leonardo Ortiz to accompany the census officers in the development of its labors.

In this district of Chiclayo, it will share weekly with the police authorities the programming of visits of census officers, in order to reinforce the security of the census personnel during their field work.

“The commitment of the INEI is to take care of the security of each census officer and of all the field personnel that participate not just in the census, but also in the different researches that the institution develops throughout the year”, stressed Morán from the district of José Leonardo Ortíz, in Chiclayo.

As part of the agenda in Lambayeque, the chief of the INEI participated in the Regional Articulation Table for the Security of the Census Personnel, where they agree joint actions between the PNP, regional and local authorities to strengthen the necessary that ensure the proper development of the 2025 National Censuses.

During the meeting, Morán convened the authorities to keep the coordinated work and remained that results of the Censuses will be the base for the design of public policies that promote the development of the country.


At the meeting held in the headquarter of the municipality of José Leonardo Ortíz participated Mr. Elber Requejo Sánchez, district mayor, among other local authorities.

More than 170 thousand houses registered in Lambayeque
As we approach to fulfill the month after the beginning of the 2025 National Censuses, the chief of the INEI informed that in the department of Lambayeque it already registered 170,111 households. Meanwhile, in the district of José Leonardo Ortíz, the registered houses totalized 60,438, which reflect the effort deployed in this important area of the country.
