Paddy rice production grew 26.4% in June of 2025 And three departments contributed with 74.8% of the total production

In June of 2025, the paddy rice production increased by 26.4%, compared to the registered in the same month of the last year, outstanding three departments of the north of the country, between them La Libertad (8,516.9%), Piura (16.7%) and Lambayeque (15.0%) that concentrated together 74.8% of the national total.


The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the Technical Report Peru: Economic Outlook by Department, informed that also showed increases in the paddy rice production: Cusco (126.4%), Cajamarca (23.1%), Huánuco (11.6%) and Madre de Dios (8.6%).


On the other hand, it decreased in Arequipa (-79.8%), Pasco (-70.2%), Tumbes (-25.0%), San Martín (-16.9%), Junín (-10.8%), Ucayali (-3.0%), Amazonas (-2.3%) and Loreto (-2.0%).


At national level, the paddy rice production totalized 788 thousand 79 tons, based in proper hydric conditions that allowed its vegetative growth, increasing the area harvested of this cereal intended mainly to domestic consumption.


In eight departments increased the cacao production
During the sixth month of 2025, the cacao production outstood in the producer departments of Ucayali (1,057.9%), Ayacucho (418.7%), Huánuco (3.8%) and Junín (3.5%), compared to June of the last year; compared to June of the last year; that together contributed with the 64.3% of the national total. Likewise, it increased in Tumbes (189.1%), Loreto (50.0%), La Libertad (20.1%) and Pasco (1.9%).


Nevertheless, it reduced in Piura (-87.8%), Lambayeque (-30.0%), San Martín (-20.2%), Cusco (-10.7%), Cajamarca (-10.7%), Amazonas (-8.1%), Madre de Dios (-1.6%) and Puno (-0.8%).


The cacao production reached 26 thousand 375 tons and registered a growth of 33.3%, compared to June of the last year. This was a result of the greater availability of water that contributed to the development of corn of this crop that represents a high demand in the international market.


82.7% of poultry production concentrated in Lima, Arequipa and La Libertad
In June of 2025, the poultry production of the country outstood in the departments of Lima (3.5%), Arequipa (3.3%) and La Libertad (3.3%), by contributing with the 82.7% of the total production; compared to the same month of the last year.


In addition, it increased in San Martín (5.7%), Ucayali (4.3%), Tacna (3.2%), Amazonas (2.6%), Huánuco (2.4%), Lambayeque (2.1%), Ancash (1.9%), Loreto (1.7%), Ica (1.0%), Tumbes (0.5%) and Piura (0.5%). On the other hand, it was affected in Pasco (-6.1%), Apurímac (-5.0%), Junín (-4.0%), Huancavelica (-3.2%), Ayacucho (-2.3%), Moquegua (-2.1%), Madre de Dios (-1.6%), Cusco (-1.3%), Puno (-0.9%) and Cajamarca (-0.6%).


The total poultry production increased by 3.2% compared to the same month of the last year, explained by the greater placement of BB chicken in meat line, laying hens and fattening turkey in the main poultry centers.


Copper production grew in nine departments
In June of 2025, the copper production mainly outstood in the departments of Junin (123.3%), Apurímac (62.8%), Ica (14.6%), Moquegua (13.1%) and Cusco (12.4%), by concentrating together the 58.1% of the national total. On the other hand, it was registered a decrease in the following departments Ancash (-40.1%), Lima (-12.4%), Huánuco (-11.6%), Tacna (-9.2%) and Arequipa (-4.2%), compared to the same month of the last year.


At national level, the copper production increased by 7.1% compared to the registered in June of the last year, mainly driven by the levels extracted in the Mine Las Bambas and the Mine Chinalco Perú; as well as in the companies Anglo American Quellaveco, Marcobre, El Brocal, Minera Antapaccay, Gold Fields La Cima and the Mine Argentum.


It should be noted that, during the sixth month of the current year, it increased the extraction of zinc (27.6%), lead (9.6%), gold (7.0%), silver (3.9%) and tin (0,4%); meanwhile, it decreased the production of iron (-98.3%) and molybdenum (-23.9%).


Eight departments concentrated the 44.4% of the total electricity production
The electricity production, in June of 2025 increased by 3.2%, compared to the same month of the last year. The departments that registered positive results, were Puno (162.4%), Huánuco (85.4%), Arequipa (82.1%), Junín (40.7%), Cajamarca (23.5%), Cusco (17.5%), Ica (17.4%) and Huancavelica (14.0%). These eight departments participated with the 44.4% of the total generated.


On the other hand, the generation of electricity decreased in the departments of Tumbes (-47.7%), Ucayali (-33.8%), Lima (-13.0%), La Libertad (-12.9%), Piura (-7.1%), Moquegua (-6.5%) and Ancash (-6.4%).


At national level the electricity production increased by 3.2%, justified by the greater generation of hydroelectric energy in the power station of Chaglla, Yuncán, San Gabán II, Carhuaquero, Chimay, Cerro del Águila, Machupicchu, La Virgen, Santa Teresa, Charcani V, Aricota I and Mantaro, among those that most contributed. Likewise, the generation of non-conventional renewable energy (wind and solar) increased.


On the other hand, it decreased the generation of thermoelectric energy, due to the production of the following power stations: Aguaytía, Malacas I, Las Flores, Chilca I and II, Santo Domingo de los Olleros, Santa Rosa I and II, Fénix and Kallpa.


In 22 departments increased the Incomes Collected by Internal Taxes domestic
In June of 2025, in twenty-two departments were registered favorable behaviors compared to June of 2024, among those, it outstood the following departments: La Libertad (22.8%), Ica (18.2%), Piura (16.3%) and Lima (11.5%), which contributed with the 91.0% of the total collected; nevertheless, it reduced in Ucayali (-12.7%) and Arequipa (-10.7%).


The incomes collected by internal taxes were 11 thousand 518 million 418 thousand Soles, at national level, a higher figure in 11.8% compared to the collected in the same month of the last year, attributed to the greater payment of the income tax of the first, second, third, fourth and fifth category; as well as, the non-domiciled sector, special regime of income tax and tax MYPE regime; at the same time, the value-added taxes, selective consumption tax and the special mining tax, increased.
