Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles at national level increased by 5.1%

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the month of June of 2025, the heavy-duty vehicle traffic through the tollbooths of the country registered a growth of 5.1% compared to the same month of 2024, according to the informed the Technical Report Vehicular Flow by Tollbooths.
The monthly result, was explained in the favorable behavior of the agribusiness sectors by the greater sowings and suitable climatic conditions; fishing due to the increased capture of species of maritime origin intended to indirect human consumption and of continental origin before the superior extraction of species in fresh state; and metal-mining related to the high extraction of copper, gold, zinc, silver, lead and tin.
In addition, the manufacturing sector influenced, due to the great performance of the primary and non-primary manufacturing subsector; construction reflected in the dynamism of the domestic cement consumption and the physical progress of works of the Regional and Local Government; and the wholesale commerce, mainly due to the sale of heavy-duty machinery, household appliances and due to the food, beverage and tobacco sector.
The tollbooths with greater traffic Flow were: to the north, Piura (Paita 31.9%, Chulucanas 10.0% and Piura Sullana 7.8%), La Libertad (Pacanguilla 20.4%, Chicama 14.1% and Virú 13,2%), Áncash (Huarmey 11.8%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 11.3%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca - Pucará 9.9%) and San Martín (Moyobamba 8.8%, Aguas Claras 8.7% and Pongo 6.0%).
Likewise, in the center, it increased in Lima (Fortaleza 14.6%, Serpentine of Pasamayo 14.6%, El Paraíso 9.5%, Corcona 0.4% and Variant of Pasamayo 0.3%) and Junín (Quiulla 11.4%); and in the south, Arequipa (Uchumayo- concession 89.5%, Patahuasi 33.4% and Matarani- concession 27.8%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 18.6%), Apurímac (Pichirhua 18.0%), Moquegua (Ilo 11.6%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha 8.6%) and Puno (Santa Lucía 4.3%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle grew by 5.0%
During June of 2025, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased by 5.0% compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the increase of traffic flow of trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty trucks of 3 axle (3.3%), 4 axle (4.7%), 5 axle (5.3%), 6 axle (6.1%) and 7 axle (0.1%).
Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles increased by 2.9%
During the sixth month of the year, the traffic flow of light duty vehicles through the tollbooths of the country increased by 2.9% compared to the same month of the last year, explained by the greater movement of people on the occasion of the Father’s Day, as well as the traditional festival of the Inti Raymi and the festivities of San Juan, San Pedro and San Pablo.
It should also be noted that these celebrations, promoted the arrival of national and foreign visitants, influenced in the development of the retail trade, linked to the dynamism of the sale of fuel for automotive vehicles and the sale in stores by department with discounts associated to the Father’s Day campaign.
The tollbooths with greater traffic flow, were: to the north, San Martín (Moyobamba 28.2%, Aguas Claras 16.9% and Pongo 4.4%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 15.7%), Piura (Chulucanas 14.3%, Paita 12.8%, Loma Larga Baja 2.9% and Piura Sullana 1.6%), La Libertad (Chicama 12.2%, Pacanguilla 9.5% and Virú 2.4%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 7.7%) and Ancash (Huarmey 6.0%).
In the center, it increased in Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 79.0%, Fortaleza 5.7%, Corcona 1.2% and El Paraíso 0.2%) and Junín (Casaracra 5.7% and Quiulla 5.1%); and in the south, Arequipa (Uchumayo- concession 94.9%, Matarani- concession 4.9% and Patahuasi 4.7%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 11.1%), Apurímac (Pichirhua 10.6%), Ica (Marcona 2.7% and Jahuay Chincha 2.3%) and Moquegua (Ilo 2.0%).
Vehicular traffic flow at national level increased by 3.8%
During the month of June of 2025, the National Rate of Vehicular flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths increased by 3.8% compared to the same month of 2024. Likewise, in the last twelve months (July 2024 – June 2025) registered a positive behavior of 3.5%. This favorable performance, was based in the high traffic flow of heavy-duty (5.1%) and light-duty (2.9%) units.
It is worth to mention that the National Seasonally Adjusted Index of the Vehicular Traffic Flow through the tollbooths increased by 0.5%, compared to the last month.
