INEI: 2,000 census officers initiate the 2025 National Censuses

With the presence of 2,000 census officers properly uniformed and accredited, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) started the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, that will develop between August and October across the country.

From National Stadium in Lima, the chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, led the launching ceremony in which census officers’ battalions, received the tablets that will be used for gathering information in each housing and household at national territory.

During his speech, Morán Flores stressed the significance of the Censuses for the development of the country, by being the main source of information to design public policies that answers to the real needs of the population.

"With the Censuses we Will know how many we are, where we are and what we need. For that reason, it is important that we all participate and open the door to the census officer”, he stated.


Likewise, he also invited the citizenship to actively collaborate with this national effort and he stated that the field personnel may identify with purple vest and cap, photo-check with QR code and INEI credential, that could be verified through its web page.


The chief of the INEI announced that since August 4th to October 31st, more than 30,000 census officers will travel urban and rural areas of the country, in order to visit almost 14 million of households and collect key data about each home.

The event involved the participation of the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, Fanny Montellanos Carvajal, representatives of the United Nations Population Fund, members of the Multisectoral Commission of the 2025 National Censuses, in addition to strategic allies of public and private sector.

Census form: 67 questions to better understand Peru
The census form has 67 questions distributed in five sections. It will be answered by a qualified informer, it means, a person older than 18 years old that usually resides in the household and know the data of all their members.


Questions cover from location and characteristics of the household till information about education, health, employment, migration, ethnic self-identification, disability, and other socio-demographic aspects.


Your information is protected
Morán Flores reiterated that all the collected information is confidential. Law N. º 13248 individual dissemination is forbidden, even by judicial order. It only published the general statistical results, without mention of names or of other data whereby they may be identified the interviewed persons.

The INEI also ensure the compliance of the Law N. º 29733 of Personal Data Protection and of the Article 97° of the Supreme Decree N. º 043-2001-PCM, that covers security and appropriate use of the census information.
