Domestic cement consumption increased 9.10% in June of 2025

During June of 2025, the domestic cement consumption grew 9.10% compared to the same month of the last year, according to the informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Conjuncture Progress of Economic Activity. Likewise, it was pointed out that during the first semester of the year, this indicator accumulated a growth of 4.25%.


The result of June was explained by the dynamism in the execution of works of the private sector.


Fishing sector increased by 33.70%
During June of 2025, the Fishing sector registered an increase of 33.70% compared to June of 2024, due to the greater landing of species of maritime origin (32.73%) intended for indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil), that reached 462,503 tons. This figure represented an increase of 91.5% compared to the figure registered in June of 2024 (241,565 tons). The greater landing was concentrated in the ports of Callao, Tambo de Mora, Pisco and Chancay.


In contrast, the fishing for direct human consumption decreased 8.77%, with falls in the species intended for curing (-34.3%), canning (-21.8%), consumption in fresh state (-9.4%) and frozen (- 6.1%).


On the other hand, the fishing of continental origin grew 42.85%, drive by a greater extraction of species for consumption in fresh (33.2%) and frozen (114.5%) state.


Mining and Hydrocarbons showed a growth of 1.01%
During the month under analysis, the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector increased 1.01% compared to June of 2024. This result was a result of the growth of the metal-mining subsector by 1.93%, driven by the greater production of copper (7.1%), zinc (27.6%), gold (7.0%), silver (3.9%), lead (9.6%) and tin (0.4%). Nevertheless, drops in molybdenum (-23.9%) and iron (-98.3%) production were registered.


On the other hand, the hydrocarbons subsector reduced by 4.74% due to the lower volume of exploitation of natural gas liquids (-10.6%) and natural gas (-2.9%), in spite of the increase in the extraction of crude oil (2.9%).


Production of electricity increased by 3.02%
During June of 2025, the generation of electricity increased by 3.02% compared to the same month of the last year. This growth was explained by the increase in the production of energy of hydroelectric (24.92%) and wind-solar renewable (31.40%) origin. Nevertheless, the generation of thermoelectric origin drop -20.57%.


Among the companies with greater production outstood: Company of Power Generation Huallaga, Company of Power Generation La Virgen, CELEPSA, Chinango, GM Operaciones, Company of Power Generation San Gabán, Statkraft Perú, Inland Energy, Company of Power Generation Machupicchu, Orazul Energy Perú, Electroperú and the Company of Power Generation of Arequipa.


Government Investment Expenditure expanded in 18.45%
In June of 2025, general government investment expenditure reached S/ 5,237 million, which represented a growth of 18.45% compared to June of 2024. This result responds to the increase of the investment in construction works at the three levels of government. Likewise, in the National and Regional Government was observed a greater acquisition of machinery and equipment.


In the same way, the consumption expenditure of General Government increased by 10.07%, totalizing S/ 11,182 million in nominal terms, compared to the same month of the last year.


Consumption credit granting increased by 6.01%
During the month under analysis, consumption credits added S/ 76,336 million, with a growth of 6.01%, compared to June of 2024. Followed by the mortgage loans, that reached S/ 68,886 million, with a positive variation of 5.57%; and the credits granted to corporations, big, medium, small and micro-companies, that totalized S/ 217,895 million, with an increase of 0.25%, compared to June of 2024.


Likewise, the placement of credit cards of the multiple banking placed in 6,668 thousand units, growing 6.17% compared to June of the last year.

Total amount imported increased by 11.53%
During June of 2025, total value of imports was of US$ 4,550 million, which meant a growth of 11.53% compared to June of 2024, according to the information of the SUNAT as of July 21st of 2025.


By type of asset, the imports of consumption goods totalized US$ 1,030 million increased by 13.74%; capital goods and construction materials reached US$ 1,381 million (11.93%); and raw materials and intermediate products totalized US$ 2,138 million (10.27%).
