The highest levels of air pollution in Lima Metropolitan area during June of 2025 were registered in East Lima, specifically in the monitoring stations placed in Santa Anita and Pariachi, according to reports of the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (SENAMHI), collected in the technical report Environmental Statistics of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
In Santa Anita was detected the most critical concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2,5), greatly surpassing the Standard of Environmental Quality Standard de Calidad Ambiental (ECA), fixed in 50,0 µg/m³. The measurements fluctuated between 45,7 µg/m³ (June 19th) and 108,0 µg/m³ (June 2nd).
Pariachi registered a similar trend, with concentrations of PM2,5 that oscillated between 25,4 µg/m³ (June 22nd) and 80,3 µg/m³ (June 4th), also above the limited allowed.
These particles, which aerodynamic diameter is lower than 2.5 microns, just can detect through electronic microscopy and comes from different fuel sources such as vehicles, power plants, residential combustion, forest fires and industrial processes.
Ultraviolet radiation remained low in Lima
During June 2025, the city of Lima registered a maximum monthly index of ultraviolet radiation of 4, classified as of low exposition for the health. This value was reached on June 26 and did not change compared to the same month of 2023 (4), when registered the same level.
