INEI extends national call for census officers until Sunday 6th of July of 2025

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) announced the extension of the time-limit to apply as a census officer at national level. Then, those interested can register until Sunday 6th of July of 2025.
From the region of Madre de Dios, the chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, explained that this measure guarantees the necessary participation to execute with success the 2025 National Censuses and to ensure the registration in all the districts of the country.
“Although the call is being very well received in different regions, we still need to strengthen the participation in areas such as Madre de Dios, Lima Metropolitan area and Constitutional Province of Callao. We invite the residents to add and be part of this historic moment for the country”, stated Morán.
Almost 60,000 persons have been registered
The chief of the INEI stressed the citizen commitment with this great national undertaking. As of the date, almost 60,000 job applicants have been registered across the country. Regions such as Tumbes already overseed the 300% of its coverage target, followed by Lambayeque, Piura and Loreto, all of them with more than 200%.
Nevertheless, the call in other areas still needs to strengthen. In Madre de Dios, for example, the coverage reaches just the 92.5%.
“We are close to the goal, and trust in our young people to reach the goal”, added Morán during a meeting with local young people.
In Madre de Dios, still need census officer in the following districts:
Tambopata-Laberinto, Madre de Dios, Manu, Fitzcarrald, Huepetuhe, Las Piedras, Iñapari, Iberia, Tahuamanu and Inambari.
In Lima Metropolitan area:
La Victoria, Cieneguilla, Pachacamac, Punta Hermosa, Lurigancho, and Ate. Meanwhile that in Callao: the district of La Punta is the one that register a lower progress.

Requirements:
* Basic knowledge in the use of tablets and virtual platforms (Zoom, Google Meet and others).
* Access to computer or laptop with web camera and stable Internet connection.
* Command of the local original language (if applies).
* Availability to travel within the urban or rural areas.

Attention: fake messages in social media
The INEI warns the citizens about the circulation of misleading messages in social media that alluded to suspected joint actions with other institutions.
“The INEI is not asking for personal information for the census in this stage. We reiterate that all official information should be only be consulted in our institutional channels”, emphasized Morán.
Agreements with native communities strengthen the census operation
Within the framework of the actions to strengthen the fieldwork, the INEI signed agreements of cooperation with native communities: Infierno, Monte Salvado and El Pilar.
The agreements were signed by the chief of the INEI and the representatives of the communities, seek to promote a greater inclusion and representative in the census process.
