INEI: More than 1,300 census officers will carry out the 2025 National Censuses in Lambayeque

More than 1,300 census officers will be deployed in Lambayeque region in order to carry out the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, that will be developed between the months of August and October. This was informed by the chief of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), Gaspar Morán Flores, during his working visit in the city of Chiclayo.

As part of the preparatory activities, Morán Flores explained that at national level will be recruited almost 40 thousand census officers, between departmental coordinators, of indigenous communities, supervisors, informatics, chiefs of section, census officers and administrative personnel.

In the case of Lambayeque, the census equipment Will be composed by 1,301 officers, from which 1,004 will be census officers, 252 will be chiefs of section, a departmental coordinator, as well as coordinators of sub-headquarters, monitors and informatics.

The chief of the INEI announced that they already had selected and trained the coordinators of headquarters and sub-headquarters in the region.

In addition, he also stated that currently had been developing the call for chiefs of section, who will be selected and trained between June and July. In the next days, Will be published also the calls for census officers, which training is scheduled between July 21 to July 26 of 2025.

Census officers Will be selected in its local area and Will receive financial remuneration
In order to optimize the field work, the census officers Will be selected in the same location where they will perform the census registration. This work will be financial remunerated and non- voluntary.

The job applicants should have technical or superior studies. Once they passed the selection process, they Will receive a specialized training, including training in security protocols and action before possible risk situations during the census.

All census personnel will be duly identified, wearing a vest, cap, and haversack and photo check with QR code, which could be verified by the citizenship through the INEI’s web portal (www.inei.gob.pe).

2025 National Censuses will be 100% digital
The chief of the INEI stated that for the first time the National Censuses Will be completely digitals, eliminating the need of paper. The information will be collected through electronic tablets that will allow the storage and immediate unloading of data, guaranteeing its security and confidentiality.

During the census, the “qualified informant” will be the person in charge of offer information to the census officer. This person must me older than 18 years old and must know exactly the household data.

Peasant communities add to the census effort in Lambayeque
In order to strengthen the coverage and dissemination of the censuses, the INEI has signed cooperation agreements with peasant communities of Micaela Bastidas of the Populated Center: Moyán, San Isidro Labrador de Marayhuaca, Santa Lucía de Ferreñafe and San Martín de Reque. Likewise, it was signed an agreement with the Provincial Municipality of Chiclayo.

These agreements will allow an active participation of the communities and the success of the census operation in the region.
