Restaurants activity increased 4.55% in April 2025

During April of 2025, the restaurants activity (foods and beverage services) grew 4.55%, compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the positive performance of the restaurants business, other activities of food services, beverage services and catering service, informed the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

This result was also favored by the celebration of the Holy Week, that in 2025 was commemorated in April 17 to April 18, in contrast of the last year, when it was celebrated in March 28 and March 29. In the accumulated January-April of 2025, the activity registered a growth of 2.46% compared to the same period of the last year.


Restaurants group grew 4.46%
In April of 2025, the restaurants group registered an increase of 4.46% compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the dynamism in the areas of fast food, grilled chicken, cevicherias (seafood restaurants) meats and grills, international food, touristic restaurants, sandwich restaurants, pizza restaurants and coffee shops, that registered a high attendance during the long holyday due to Holly Week.
This growth was based in the implementation of the innovative restaurant’s menu, extension of late-night schedules, special promotions and improvements in the infrastructure of establishments. In addition, it positively influenced the gastronomic fairs such as “Gochisō 2025” and “Fiesta del Dulce Peruano” in Lima, “Gastromaq Sur” in Arequipa and the international fair “Perú Mucho Gusto Madrid” in Spain.


Other activities of food services increased 4.62%
In April of 2025, other activities of food services grew 4.62%, compared to the same period of the last year, due to the greater demand of food concessionaires, backed by the renovation and captured of contracts with educational centers, universities, ministries, mining companies, electric companies, industries, clinic and hospitals.
Likewise, the supply of food for contractors (food service for transportation companies) increased before the greater frequency of air and land travels, associated to the long holyday due to Holy Week.


Beverage services grew 3.90%
Beverage service registered a growth of 3.90%, compared to the same month of the last year, explained by the increase of the activity in coffee shops, bar restaurants, driven by a varied offer of appetizers, variety in the drink menu, sandwiches, desserts and breakfasts, as well as the extension of schedules, Wi-Fi free service, extension of spaces in establishments, presentation of thematic environments and live music.


Catering service grew 34.56%
During April of 2025, catering service grew by 34.56%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the increase of services of preparation and distribution of foods for corporative events conferences, directory meetings, integration workshops, anniversaries, marriages, baby showers and birthdays.

Among the most demanded services outstood the coffee break, sandwiches services, cheese and charcuterie table, as well as varied offer of main dishes.
