INEI: 41 Native and peasant communities of Loreto participate in the Second Pilot Census

A total of 41 native and peasant communities of Loreto add to the Second Pilot Census of Population, Housing and Indigenous Communities, that the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) had been performed from June 10 to June 21.


From the district of Belén, the chief of the INEI, Dr. Gaspar Morán Flores, informed that this pilot census is executed in four districts of the country: Belén (Loreto), Yanacancha (Pasco), San Borja and Villa El Salvador (Lima). The aim is to test the registration procedures, to evaluate the understanding of the questionnaire, measure times of data collection and validate the use of electronic tablets with the census form.


“This census will allow to know in depth the demographic, social, economic, cultural and territorial conditions of our indigenous communities. This information will be a key factor to design public policies that respect their identity and improve their life quality”, emphasized Morán Flores.


The chief of the INEI stated that the census form for indigenous communities include 100 questions about subjects such as migration, economic activity, health, education, social programs, community organization, geographic location and local authorities.



INEI and Regional Government of Loreto boost the 2025 National Censuses
With a view to the 2025 National Censuses —XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, the INEI and the Regional Government of Loreto signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen its dissemination, execution and ensure the active participation of the citizenship.


In addition, the chief of the INEI had meeting with the Regional Organization of the Eastern Indigenous Communities (ORPIO), chaired by Beltrán Sandi Tuituy. In the meeting was discussed about the census process and a second cooperation agreement was signed to guarantee the success of the operative in the communities.



Open call to be part of the 2025 Census
The chief of the INEI also announced the national call to select the personnel that will work in the 2025 Census. He also informed that for this end they will need more than 7,500 chiefs of the census section and around 40 000 census officers across the country. He also reminded that the calls will be done through the INEI website: https://www.gob.pe/inei/


“Previous experience is not indispensable, for this reason this represents a great opportunity for those that want to actively contribute to the development of Peru through this important statistical project”, he concluded.
