Chief of the INEI announced the performance of the II pilot census in San Borja and Villa El Salvador

In order to evaluate the operating procedures in field and the time of response with the census form, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) announced the performance from June 10 to June 21 of 2025 of the II Experimental Census, preparatory activity for the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, programmed for the month of August.



This was announced by the chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, who detailed that the pilot census will be performed in four districts of the country: San Borja and Villa El Salvador (Lima), Yanacancha (Pasco) and Belén (Loreto). In addition, a specific experimental census will be performed for indigenous communities, specifically in the regions of Loreto and Pasco.



Census form: key information about the housing and the population
The chief of the INEI advanced that the census form is made up by five sections with a total of 68 questions. These addressing issues such as:


Characteristics of the housing: location, occupancy condition, type and number of households, construction materials and access to basic services. characteristics of the household: type of fuel used to cook, disposal of solid waste and migration background.

Includes questions of access to health services, economic characteristics of the population, migration in the households (members that have been migrated and causes) and general information of the household members.
During the operation, the census officials will visit the housings of the selected districts to interview the qualified informant of each household, using an electronic tablet that has the census form.
If the qualified informant is not at home or cannot provide the information at that moment, he/she can complete the questionnaire through the On-Line Census (e-Censo), available in the INEI’s web page. To this end, a note of the visit with a unique code of housing will be left, this code will allow access the system.



ǪR Code to verify the identity of the census-takers
The census officials will have the INEI’s official clothing and a credential with a QR code that when being scanned, will allow to verify its identity in the institutional web. It should be noted that the census officials will not enter the households: the interview will be performed at the home’s door condominium or building.
