Mining and Hydrocarbons sector grew 8.55% in April of 2025

In April of 2025, the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector registered a growth of 8.55% compared to the same month of the last year, mainly driven by the increase of the metal-mining subsector (10.64%).

This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in its technical report Conjuncture Progress of Economic Activity.
This positive result was explained by the dynamism of the metal-mining subsector before the greater volume of copper (8.4%), zinc (49.4%), silver (18.5%), lead (24.5%), gold (2.9%), iron (5.8%) and tin (1.8%) production. In contrast, the molybdenum production reduced by 9.0%.
On the other hand, the hydrocarbons subsector decreased by 4.38% due to a lower extraction of natural gas liquids (-16.2%) and natural gas (-14.5%). Nevertheless, it was observed dan increase in the production of crude oil (26.5%).

Electricity subsector grew 2.78%
During the same month, the electricity subsector grew 2.78% compared to April 2024, as a result of a greater generation of energy of Eolic-solar (34.56%) and hydroelectric (0.52%) origin. Nevertheless, the thermoelectric generation decreased by 0.96%.
Among the main companies that increased its production outstood: Renewable Energy of the South, Orygen Perú, Company of Generation Huanza, Compañía Eléctrica La Virgen, Empresa de Generación Huallaga, Generadora de Energía del Perú, Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Chinango, Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Arequipa, Compañía Eléctrica El Platanal, Kallpa Generation and Inland Energy.


Domestic cement consumption decreased 0.08%
The INEI reported that during April of this year, the domestic cement consumption reduced in 0.08% compared to the same month of 2024, due to the lower progress of private works and self-construction projects.


Mortgage loans maintain its increasing trend
During April of 2025, loans granted to companies of all sizes (corporations, big, medium, small and micro-companies) totalized S/ 216,556 million, which represented a growth of 1.86% compared to April of 2024.

Mortgage lending totalized S/ 68,251 million, with an increase of 6.01%, meanwhile that the consumption credits totalized S/ 73,327 million, registered an increase of 0.61%. In addition, the number of credit cards issued by the multiple banking totalized 6,41 million of units, a 2.05% more than the same month of the last year.


Imports grew 2.41% in April
During April of 2025, the total amount imported totalized US$ 4,658 million, growing 2.41% compared to the value registered in April of 2024, according to information of the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT), with information available as of May 25 of 2025.

By type of asset, the import of consumption goods totalized US$ 1,004 million, with an increase of 12.35%. The acquisitions of capital goods and construction materials totalized US$ 1,373 million, increased 6.77%. On the other hand, the import of raw materials and intermediate products drop by 3.71%, totalizing US$ 2,282 million.
