INEI: Almost 1,600 municipalities and 22 regional governments already added to 2025 National Censuses

From Huamanga, Ayacucho, the chief of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), doctor Gaspar Morán Flores, announced that there already are 1,450 district municipalities, 147 provinces and 22 regional governments that had signed the cooperation agreements to support the performance of the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities.
In the case of Ayacucho, agreements have been signed with 122 district municipalities and 11 provinces. The visit of the chief of the INEI to Huamanga has as objective to concrete agreements with the peasant communities of Alpachaca and Niño de Jesús de Ñeque.
The signature of the agreements was performed in the auditorium of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, Tourism and Production of Ayacucho. Participated the chief of the INEI, Dr. Gaspar Morán, and the community presidents Julián Quispe Bautista (Alpachaca) and Robert Pizarro Alcarraz (Niño de Jesús de Ñeque).
Pilot Census starts in June 10 in four districts
As part of the preparatory actions, Dr. Morán anticipated that the next June 10 will start the II Pilot Census in four districts of the country. The purpose is to validate census registration procedures, to evaluate the understanding of the census questionnaire and to measure the operative times.
The selected districts are: San Borja and Villa El Salvador (Lima), Yanacancha (Pasco) and Belén (Loreto), covering urban and rural areas of the Coast, Highlands and Rainforest.
Technology at the service of the census: use of tablets
For the first time, the information collected will be performed using tablets, acquired with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). These tools will allow to reduce the processing times, to improve the quality of the data and georeferencing the households.

In addition, Morán stressed that the census officers will not enter to the houses, for security purposes, and the tablets will have a “help button” to report any situation of risk.
Social and economic indicators of Ayacucho
At another time, the chief of the INEI presented the most recent figures of the department of Ayacucho:
Monetary poverty in 2024: 32.8% of the population.
Men: 34.8%
Women: 28.4%
According to education level of the head of the household in situation of poverty:
Primary: 39.3%
Secondary: 35.1%
Superior: 9.2%
In children’s health:
Anemia in children of 6 to 35 months: 51,0% in 2024, a slight improve compared to 2023 (51.5%).
Chronic Malnutrition in children under five years old: 17.0%, 0.3 points more than the last year (16.7%).
In economic terms:
Employed population (first quarter 2025): 127,100 persons.
Regional GNP: represents the 4.3% of the national total (2024).
Behavior of the prices: consumer prices increased 0.42% in April of 2025.
Micro-companies: represent the 96.4% of the total of companies in the region.
