Grape production grew 127.1% in March of 2025 and two departments concentrate the 85.7% of the national total

During March of 2025, the grape national production reached 74 thousand 115 tons, which represented an increase of 127.1% compared to the same month of 2024 (32 thousand 637 tons). This increase was due to favorable thermal conditions that allow the rejuvenation of the crop and greater crops intended to the foreign market and the agro-industry.
The Technical Report Peru: Economic Outlook by Department, prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that Ica and Lima outstood as the main producers, with increases of 278.6% and 67.7%, respectively, and a joint participation of the 85.7% of the national total. In addition, it registered increases in Ancash (157.1%), Tacna (18.9%), San Martin (7.9%) and Arequipa (4.4%). On the other hand, the production drop in Piura (-84.7%), Cajamarca (-73.2%), Moquegua (-28.4%) and La Libertad (-8.2%).
Five departments boosted national production of avocado
During March of 2025, the avocado production totalized 116 thousand 658 tons, at a growth of 8.4% compared to the same month of the last year. The progress was favoured by optimum temperature that accelerate fruit ripening and increased the harvested areas.
Ancash (124.8%), Lambayeque (57.2%), La Libertad (21.8%), Lima (18.5%) and Ayacucho (16.5%) concentrated the 94.1% of the national production. In addition, there were reported increases in Pasco, Huánuco, Junín, Cusco y Loreto. Nevertheless, there were setbacks in Arequipa (-43.8%), Apurímac (- 36.1%), Ica (-7.8%) and Huancavelica (-4.9%).
Poultry production grew 3.4% and concentrated in four departments
During March of 2025, the poultry production increased 3.4% compared to the same month of 2024, driven by the greater chicken breeding and turkeys for fattening.
Ica, La Libertad, Arequipa and Lima led the sector with the joint participation of 88.6%. In addition, it registered growths in Ancash, San Martín, Lambayeque, Ucayali, Tacna, Amazonas, Moquegua and Cajamarca. On the other hand, there were observed drops in Pasco, Apurímac, Cusco, Huánuco, Junín, Madre de Dios and Puno.
Six departments led the national copper production
Copper production grew 4.8% in March of 2025, compared to the same month of the last year, keeping four consecutive months of increase, thanks to a greater extraction in important mining operations such as Las Bambas, Marcobre, Antapaccay, Chinalco, Quellaveco, Corona, Volcan and Gold Fields.
Apurimac (72.2%), Ica (21.0%), Junín (16.0%), Cusco (13.1%), Tacna (6.1%) and Moquegua (0.8%) concentrated the 63.7% of the national total. In addition, the production in Lima, Huancavelica and Cajamarca increased, meanwhile it decreased in Pasco, Ancash, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Huánuco and Puno.
Four regions contributed with the 64.2% of the electric energy of the country
During March of 2025, the national production of electric energy grew 5.2%, compared to March of 2024, driven by the greater generation in hydroelectric, thermoelectric, wind and solar power stations.
Huanuco (20.7%), Ica (18.3%), Lima (8.5%) and Junín (8.1%) concentrated the 64.2% of the total generated. In addition, it registered important increases in Ucayali, Madre de Dios, Lambayeque, Tacna, Piura, Arequipa, among other departments.
Revenues by internal taxes increased 21.7%
During March of 2025, the revenues by internal taxes totalized 13 thousand 380 million 427 thousand Soles, which represented an increase of 21.7% compared to March of 2024. This result was explained by greater payments of the income tax in different categories, as well as the regularization of legal persons, the Value Added Tax (IGV) and the special tax to mining.
It is worth to mention that 22 departments registered positive variations, outstood the following departments: Arequipa (44.6%), Lima (21.8%) and La Libertad (20.0%), that contributed with the 92.9% of the total collected. On the other hand, there were observed decreases in Piura (-15.3%) and Junin (-2.2%).
