Restaurants activity increased 1.34% in March of 2025

During March of 2025, the restaurants activity (services of foods and beverages) increased by 1.34% compared to the same month of the last year. The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that this performance was based in the positive evolution of the restaurants, the catering foodservice, other activities of food service and beverage service. Likewise, it was informed that during the first quarter of the year, this activity accumulated a growth of 1.78%, compared to the same period of 2024.
Restaurants group increased 1.27%
During March of 2025, the restaurants group grew 1.27% compared to the same month of the last year, as a result of the greater demand in the items of meats and grills, restaurants of international food, touristic restaurants, sandwich restaurants, coffee restaurants and cevicherías (seafood restaurants). This dynamism was favoured by marketing strategies in social networks, implementation of special menus with live music, collaborations with gastronomic influencers, special offers and events by the celebration of the Woman’s Day.
Also contributed to this result gastronomic events such as "Expo Healthy Living Junín 2025" in La Molina, “Expo Vive Callao 2025” in Callao and the “International Festival of the Grape Harvest 2025” in Ica.
Nevertheless, it was registered a decrease in the invoicing of Chifas (Chinese restaurants), Pollerías (Grilled chicken restaurants), Confectioners, Creole food, fast foods and pizza restaurants.
Catering foodservice increased by 36.43%
The INEI informed that during March of 2025 the catering foodservice (catering) grew by 36.43%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the good of preparation services and distribution of foods for social and corporate events, including the attention of buffets, coffee breaks, executive breakfasts, box lunch, open bar and thematic dessert tables.
Other activities of foodservice grew 0.89%
During March 2025, other activities of foodservice registered an increase of 0.89% compared to March of 2024, driven by the greater provision of foods for contractors (food services of for transportation companies), linked to the increase in the frequency of domestic and international travels, as well as the expansion of services in the transportation sector.
A similar behavior showed the activity of food concessionaires, before the growing demand of collective food services, backed by the renewal and contracts acquisition with schools, universities, hospitals, clinic, industrial enterprises, fishing enterprises, cement enterprises, mining enterprises and financial entities.
Beverage service increased by 0.99%
During March of 2025, the beverage service increased by 0.99%, compared to the same month of the last year, driven by the development of business such as coffee shops, bars, juice shops and discos. This expansion answered to special offers by the commemoration of the Women’s Day, the Festivals of Cocktails and the incorporation of differentiated and innovative products. Also positively influenced the activities performed by the Algarrobina’s Day.
