The Chief of the INEI, Gaspar Morán Flores, informed about the main milestones reached to date and outstood the commitment of the census personnel, as well as the collaboration of different public and private institutions.
Regarding the segmentation state, Morán Flores noted that this stage is completed and this will allow to divide the territory in geographic areas (census segments) to facilitate the data collection and the information control, facilitating the allocation of human resources, logistics management and the organization of the census process.
Likewise, Morán Flores insisted that the goals established in the national schedule has been fulfilled and also announced that for the purpose of testing the 40 thousand tablets acquired for the capture of information of the censuses, it will be carried out a Second Census Pilot that includes different weather conditions. “We will test the tablets in Cerro de Pasco (Yarinacocha), Loreto (Belén) and in Lima (San Borja and Villa el Salvador)”, he also argued.
In addition, he highlighted the use of new technologies and digital platforms for validation and processing of data, as well as the strict policy of confidentiality and security of the information that governs the whole census operation.
“We call on the whole citizenry to contribute with the census process. The information you give us is confidential and will be used only for statistical purposes. To participate in the census is a right and a duty that strengthen the democracy and the development of Peru”, he underlined.
To this date, the INEI has signed inter-institutional agreements with 1,431 districts, 141 provinces and 20 regional governments, that will allow to reach the coverage of the total of households of each of the districts and most remote areas of the country.
“No person that lives in the country, Peruvian or foreigner will remain without being registered. Even, the preliminary results are envisaged in 5 months once ended the data capture. And the definitive results in 7 months. Be reminded that in the last censuses the results take about two years”, stated Morán Flores.
