INEI and district municipalities of Arequipa sign cooperation agreement in support of the 2025 National Censuses

Within the framework of the preparatory activities in order to carry out the 2025 National Censuses: XIII of Population, VIII of Housing and IV of Indigenous Communities, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) and the district municipalities of Cayma, Characato, Yanahuara, Jacobo Hunter, Tiabaya and Uchumayo, of Arequipa, signed a cooperation and support agreement to this important statistical activity, in order to stablish joint actions that allow the total coverage of the district during the implementation of the censuses.


The signing of the document seeks to ensure that the censuses carry out in a successfully way, collecting updated information about the reality of the country that can be used as tool to the design of public policies in benefit of the population of Arequipa’s districts.


Main commitments undertaken
With the signature of the agreement, the INEI undertakes to execute the national censuses in the districts of Cayma, Characato, Yanahuara, Jacobo Hunter, Tiabaya and Uchumayo, as well as to convene, select and train the technical personal for the census operation and monitor the census registration.


In addition, it will provide the municipalities the definitive results of the 2025 National Censuses at national, regional, provincial and district level, according to the census cartography. Likewise, it will support the municipalities in the exploitation of the statistical information for the development of projects in the town.


On the other hand, the municipalities committed to give priority attention to the actions of territorial demarcation and land-use planning that demands the local authorities of the district area, for the registration process and the presentation of the census results with the official cartography.


Likewise, it shall complement the census dissemination that the INEI develops in order to raise awareness the local authorities, community and population in general about the importance of the national censuses, achieving the active participation of all the actors aforementioned.


It should be stressed that the mayors will chair the cooperation and support district committee to the 2025 National Censuses and will convene the authorities and social organizations for the participation of the population in the registration process.
