In January of 2025 the department of Ica contributed with 86.3 % of the national production of grape that totalized 250,966 tons

In January of 2025, the department of Ica was the main producer of grape by concentrating the 86.3 % of the national production, with a growth of 9.5% compare to the same month of the last year.
Through the technical report “Peru: Economic Outlook by Department”, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), stated that also registered growths the departments of Lambayeque (1,150.0 %), Piura (900.0 %), Ancash (21.5 %) and Arequipa (6.7 %); meanwhile that it decreased in Tacna (-88.3 %), Moquegua (-51.1 %), San Martín (-45.9 %), La Libertad (-25.0 %) and Cajamarca (-20.5 %).

Likewise, informed that during the first month of the year, the production of grape in the country reached 250,966 tons and increased in 10.8 %, compared to the same month of 2024, favoured by the good weather conditions that allowed the rejuvenation and fertilization of this fruit, destined to external market and agro-industry.


Departments of Lambayeque and Piura led the production of mango
During January of 2025, the main departments producers of mango were Lambayeque and Piura, concentrating between them the 93.0 % of the total produced, increasing in 727.0 % and 725.0 %, compared to the same month of the last year.
Likewise, the production of mango increased in Tumbes (617.4 %), Arequipa (268.3 %), Ancash (178.7 %), Ica (145.0 %), San Martín (79.9 %), Apurímac (64.8 %) and Cajamarca (27.0 %), among the main ones. Nevertheless, it reduced in Pasco (-52.7 %), Ayacucho (-39.6 %), Amazonas (-31.0 %) and Moquegua (-12.3 %).

The production of this fruit during the first month of the year, destined for the foreign market and agroindustry, reached 196,297 tons across the country, expanding in 532.2 % compared to the month of January of 2024, influenced by the appropriate temperature registered in the agricultural zones of the north, favoring the cultivation of this crop.


In eight departments grew the production of potato
During the first month of this year and compared to the same period of 2024, the production of potato increased in Huánuco (58.5 %), first producer at national level; likewise, Ayacucho (109.2 %), Cusco (5.9 %) and Arequipa (1.6 %), contributing together with the 63.3 % of the national total. In addition, it registered positive results the following departments: Amazonas (156.3 %), Ica (36.2 %), Ancash (9.9 %) and Moquegua (3.9 %). Nevertheless, it contracted in Apurímac (-80.2 %), Piura (-48.7 %), La Libertad (-36.4 %), Lima (-22.9 %) and Cajamarca (-20.0 %), among others.
During January of 2025, the production of this tuber at national level registered 290,914 tons and increased by 9.0 % compared to January 2024, explained by the favorable thermal conditions with normal to heavy rains, that allowed the vegetative growth and the la tuberization of the plantations of the mentioned crop, with great demand in the domestic market.
Production of poultry increased in 11 departments
The INEI informed that during the first month of 2025 and compared to the same month of the last year, the production of poultry mainly increased in the poultry centers of La Libertad (5.8 %) and Lima (5.1 %), which contributed with the 71.8 % of the national total. Likewise, it increased in San Martín (6.3 %), Arequipa (5.6 %), Pasco (5.0 %), Ancash (4.8 %), Tumbes (4.2 %), Ucayali (3.8 %), Piura (2.7 %), Ica (2.2 %) and Lambayeque (1.8 %). On the other hand, it decreased in the departments of Ayacucho (-6.1 %), Madre de Dios (-5.5 %), Moquegua (-4.7 %), Cusco (-4.3 %), Apurímac (-3.9 %) and Puno (-2.8 %), among others. In the country, the production of poultry in January of 2025 increased by 4,7 % compared to January of 2024, determined by the greater placement of BB chicken meat line.


69.0 % of the national production of copper concentrated in six departments
The copper production during January of 2025 compared to the same month of 2024, grew in Apurímac (81.3 %), Junín (47.1 %), Lima (25.7 %), Moquegua (13.6 %), Arequipa (5.4 %) and Tacna (5.2 %), that together contributed with the 69.0 % of the national total. In addition, it increased in Huancavelica (19.8 %) and Huánuco (2.0%). Meanwhile, it reduced in Cusco (-45.2 %), Pasco (-27.1 %) Ayacucho (-12.8 %), Cajamarca (-8.8 %), Puno (-2.7 %), Ica (-1.7 %) and Ancash (-1.4 %).

The volume obtained of copper in the country during the first month of the year increased by 7.3 % compared to January of 2024, compared to January of 2024, based in the greater extraction performed in the following companies: Minera Las Bambas, Minera Chinalco Perú, Anglo American Quellaveco, Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde, Marcobre and Southern Perú Copper Corporation.
In addition, it increased in January of 2025, the extraction of molybdenum, silver, iron and tin; on the other hand, it reduced the extraction of gold, zinc and lead.


The electric energy production increased in 14 departments
During January of 2025, compared to the same month of 2024, the production of electric energy increased in Arequipa (40.7 %), Ica (38.9 %), Lambayeque (32.3 %), Tumbes (23.4 %), Piura (19.3 %), Ancash (16.6 %), La Libertad (11.6 %), Tacna (7.2 %), Huancavelica (3.9 %), Cusco and Loreto (3.4 %), Huánuco (3.3 %), Ayacucho (2.4 %) and Junín (0.3 %). On the other hand, it reduced in Ucayali (-60.7 %), Amazonas (-18.2 %), Puno (-7.0 %), Cajamarca (-6.0 %), San Martín (-5.8 %) and Lima (-5.3 %), among others.
At national level, during the first month of the year, the production of electric energy increased by 1.5 % compared to the same month of 2024, due to the greater generation in the hydroelectric power plants of Mantaro, Restitución, Cahua, Gallito Ciego, Quitarasca, Yuncan, Chaglla and Charcani V, mainly. The same behavior registered the generation of non-conventional renewable energy (Eolic and Solar energy), meanwhile it contracted in the thermoelectric power stations of Las Flores, Kallpa, Chilca 1, Chilca 2 and Samay I.

Four departments contributed with the 93.1 % of the total revenues collected by internal taxes
During January of 2025, the revenues collected by internal taxes grew in 21 departments, compared to the same month of the last year, outstanding Cusco (193.2 %), Arequipa (38.1 %), Lima (11.5 %) and La Libertad (4.5 %); by contributing with the 93.1 % of the total amount collected. Nevertheless, it decreased in Piura (-14.9 %), Junín (-6.8 %) and Loreto (-2.7 %).

During January of 2025, the revenue collected by internal taxes totalized S/ 14’628,762.000 and exceeded by 13.1 % to the collected in the same month of the last year, explained by greater amounts collected by the income tax (first, second, third and fifth category), value added tax and Selective Excise Tax
