Restaurants activity grew 3.17 % in January of 2025

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that in January of 2025, the restaurant activity (food and beverage services) grew 3.17 % compared to the month of January of 2024, due to the positive behavior of the restaurants group, other activities of food services and beverages services; nevertheless, the supplying of foods by contractors (catering) decreased.
Restaurants group grew 3.03 %
During January of 2025, the group of restaurants increased 3.03 % compared to the same month of the last year, due to the positive performance in the following areas: pollerías (grilled chicken restaurants), touristic restaurants, restaurants, fast foods, meats and grills, Chifas (Chinese food restaurants), sandwich restaurants, cevicherías (seafood restaurants), Creole food, international food and coffee restaurants, due to the beginning of the summer season, greater delivery service, promotions and discounts with whichever means of payment, implementation of exclusive environments, Lima dances show and renovation of menu restaurants on the occasion of the celebration of Lima anniversary.
The greater production of restaurants group, also was associated to the performance of gastronomic fairs.
Other activities of service of foods increased by 5.50 %
During the month under analysis, other activities of foods service increased by 5.50 % compared to the same month of 2024, driven by the activity of catering service, by the enlargement and subscription of contracts with the following companies: fishing, mining, of electricity, cement companies, clubs, health centers and clinics. Likewise, due to the supplying of foods by contractors (food services for transportation companies) before the greater frequency of travels of transportation companies due to the increase of the demand by summer and vacations season.
Beverage service grew 0.14 %
The beverage service increased 0.14 % compared to the month of January of 2024, due to the good performance of the establishments of coffee shops, bars and bar restaurants, driven by the variety of snacks and new combos, remodulation of environments, extension of schedules and advertising campaigns. Likewise, there were greater promotions in beverages and drinks by the celebration of the Chilcano Week and the performance of the “III Festival del Chilcano” in Ica, mainly.
Catering service decreased 5.86%
Supplying of foods by contractors (catering) decreased 5.86 % compared to the same month of the last year, due to the lower quantity of contractors of preparation and distribution of foods service for events, in the attention of the catering service for weddings, cocktails, birthdays, among others.
