It increases the proportion of men and women with access to financial system increases

During the fourth quarter of 2024 and according to the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO), the percentage of men of 18 years old and older, that had some account in the financial system (savings, time deposit or current account) reached 59.7% and in the case of women reached 57.5%, result that represented an increase of 1.9 and 1.1 percentage points, respectively.
This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the Technical Report, Statistics with Gender Perspective, where it stated that by age groups, a greater percentage of women (63.0%) and men (62.4%) of 18 to 29 years old have some bank account in the financial system. In the case of women and men of 30 to 59 years old reached 58.8% and 59.2%, respectively. Meanwhile, women and men of 60 years old and older with access to financial system reached 46.5% and 57.1%, respectively.


The proportion of women and men that use the Internet increases
During the period under analysis, 78.8% of women and 81.4% of men use the Internet. Compared to the fourth quarter of the last year, the percentage of women and men that used the Internet increased by 1.3 and 1.2 percentage points, respectively.

According to the frequency of use, 91.3% of women and 91.8% of men of the population of 6 years old and older daily uses the Internet. 8.1% of women and 7.6% of men used the Internet once a week. Meanwhile, those that use the Internet once a month or every two months or more, represented 0.7% of women and 0.6% of men.

Women and men with university superior education level use the Internet in greater proportion
According to the ENAHO of the fourth quarter of 2024, 98.2% of women and 97.2% of men with university superior education level accessed to the Internet; women and men with non-university superior education level used the Internet in the same proportion (97.1%, in each case). Meanwhile, 90.6% of women and 88.1% of men with secondary education level used the Internet. 52.0% of women and 57.4% of men with primary education level used the Internet.

The attendance of girls and boys in early childhood education increases
The ENAHO of the fourth quarter of 2024, revealed that the proportion of girls of 3 to 5 years old that attended childhood education, represented 95.0% and in boys represented 93.2%, a higher figure in girls in 1.8 percentage points. Compared to the same period of 2023, it is appreciated an increase of 4.3 and 3.2 percentage points, respectively.

Regarding to the school attendance of girls and boys of 6 to 11 years old to primary education level, the percentage of girls (98.4%) was higher in 1.7 percentage points compared to boys (96.7%), Meanwhile, it was registered a greater attendance of male (82.0%) than female adolescents (81.0%) to secondary education level.


More women than men have health insurance
The ENAHO of the fourth quarter of 2024, revealed that at national level, 92.7% of women have health insurance, a result higher in 2.6 percentage points compared with that of men (90.1%). Compared to the same quarter of the last year, the proportion of women and men increased by 2.0 and 3.5 percentage points, respectively.
According to the type of health insurance, 66.4% of women have Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS), 22.2% EsSalud insurance and 4.1% other type of health insurance. In the case men, 62.6% are affiliated to the SIS, 22.9% accedes to EsSalud and 4.6% accedes to other type of health insurance.

The greater proportion of women work in Commerce and Services activities
During the fourth quarter of 2024 and according to the results of the Permanent Survey of National Employment (EPEN), 70.4% of women that work had been inserted in the Commerce and Services activity, meanwhile men in these sectors reached the 52.7%.

Meanwhile, women that work in Agriculture/Fishing/Mining reached 20.8% and men reached 25.5%; in Manufacture was 8.1% and 9.6% of women and men, respectively; and in Construction sector worked 12.3% of men and just 0.7% of women.
