35.5% of foreigners that entered Peru came from Chile

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that, according to the information provided by the National Superintendence of Migration, during the fourth quarter of 2024, the main country of origin of the foreigners that arrived the country had come from Chile with 35.5%, followed by United States 13.4%, Ecuador 10.0%, Colombia 7.8%, Bolivia 6.8%, Spain 5.5%, Brazil 4.8% and Panama with 4.2%, concentrating the 87.9% of the total of entries of foreigners to Peru.
Therefore, during the fourth quarter of 2024, the flow of entries of foreigners to Peru totalized 1 million 27 thousand 93 movements, a result greater in 10.0% compared to the same period of 2023. According to sex, from the total of foreigners that arrived the country, 52.7% were men and 47.3% were women.
In the technical report “Peru: Evolution of International Entries and Exits” is stated that during the year 2024, the movements of entries of foreigners to the country reached 4 million 109 thousand 155 and Chile is the main country where foreigners come from with 35.7% (1 million 467 thousand 706).
Most foreigners that arrived to the country are between 30 to 59 years of age
During the period under analysis and according to age groups, from the total of movements of entries of foreigners, 55.4% of foreigners are between 30 to 59 years of age, 19.3% are older adults, 17.5% are between 15 to 29 years old with 17.5% and those under 15 years of age concentrated 7.8%.
The main control post of entry of foreigners to the country is the Jorge Chávez International Airport
During the fourth quarter of the current year, the main migration check posts of entries of foreigners coming from abroad was the Jorge Chavez International Airport with 582 thousand 948 movements, followed by Santa Rosa in Tacna with 273 thousand 334 movements and other check posts totalized 170 thousand 811.
Exits of foreigners from the country increased by 11.0%
During the period under analysis, the number of departures of foreigners from this country reached 993 thousand 474, which represented an increase of 11.0% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. From the total of foreigners that departed Peru, 52.8% were men and 47.2% women.
Exits of Peruvians abroad increased 6.8%
Among the months of October to December of 2024, the total of departures of Peruvian abroad reached 1 million 15 thousand 790, a higher result in 6.8% compared to the same period of 2023. According to sex, 50.2% of Peruvians that left the country were men and 49.8% were women.
During the year 2024, the total of departures of men totalized 1 million 968 thousand 15 persons, showing an increase of 8.4% compared to the year 2023.
60 out of 100 Peruvians that depart abroad are between 30 to 59 years of age
According to age group, the greater proportion of domestic departures was registered in Peruvians from 30 to 59 years old with 60.1%, followed by the young people of 15 to 29 years of age with 19.2%, older adults of 60 years old and older that represents the 14.7% and those under 15 years old that represents the 5.9%.
56.4% of the exits of Peruvians abroad were performed through Jorge Chávez International Airport
During the fourth quarter of the current year, 56.4% of the total exits of Peruvians were performed through the Migratory Check Post of Jorge Chávez International Airport, followed by Santa Rosa in Tacna with 31.4%. It is worth to mention that between both check points totalized 87.8% of the international exits of Peruvians.
Migratory balance of Peruvians was negative
During the last quarter 2024, it was registered in the country 994 thousand 952 migratory exits, totalizing a negative balance of 20 thousand 838 migratory movements.
Total Migratory flow in Peru grew 8.8%
During the fourth quarter of 2024, the total migratory flow of entries and exits of Peruvians and foreigners, reached 4 million 31 thousand 309 movements, result that meant an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period of the year 2023. This growth is mainly explained by the entries (8.7%) of Peruvians and foreigners. Likewise, during the year 2024, the migratory flow registered a total of 15 million 861 thousand 402 movements that represents an increase of 17.3% compared to the last year.
